Women in film have oftentimes been portrayed as the passive and subservient damsel. They have rarely been characterized as anything beyond one-dimensional representations of the worst stereotypes surrounding women since the dawn of media consumption – vain, weak, and thoughtless to name a few. To be defined as a “bad girl” of film, a female character does not conform to these stereotypes, but actively develops beyond them in the name of duty, valor, money, liberation, or power. In this podcast, I'll explore the "bad girl" archetype in the context of female characters that partake in violence.
