Cuda Confidential San Jose Barracuda

The San Jose Barracuda (24-34-10-4) were 0-10 this season in overtime before Saturday night’s season finale at the Tucson Convention Center, but at 1:51 of the OT session, Tristen Robins managed to seal a 5-4 win over the Tucson Roadrunners (43-23-4-2).
In the win, Mitchell Russell, in his second AHL game, Gannon Laroque, and Mason Klee scored their first AHL goals and Filip Bystedt notched his fourth in his eighth AHL contest.

The San Jose Barracuda (23-34-10-4) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first period on Friday night at the Tucson Convention Center but managed just 13 shots after that point and would fall 5-1 to the Tucson Roadrunners (43-23-3-2).

Georgi Romanov made 41 saves on Saturday night at the Toyota Arena, but the San Jose Barracuda (21-33-9-4) would fall 3-2 in a shootout to the Ontario Reign (38-21-3-4).

The San Jose Barracuda (21-33-9-3) entered the third period on Thursday at the Acrisure Arena up by a goal but failed to hold the lead, falling 3-1 to the Coachella Valley Firebirds (41-14-5-4). Despite the loss, Georgi Romanov was outstanding, making 39 saves on 42 shots, and has now turned aside 86 of 91 in his last two games versus the first-place Firebirds.

In his AHL debut, Sharks 2022 first round pick Filip Bystedt notched a pair of goals and added an assist but the San Jose Barracuda (21-32-9-3) would fall 6-5 in a shootout on Wednesday night at the Pechanga Arena against the San Diego Gulls (24-31-8-0).

In the first, the Gulls put the first five shots on net, and managed to grab momentum early. On their seventh shot of the period, Nathan Gaucher (10) would make it goals in his last four as he tipped in a Nick Wolff point-pull at 9:09. After Gaucher was called for tripping, the Barracuda managed to tie the score as Kyle Rau (7) tipped in a Danil Gushchin shot from the blue line. After the Gulls took their lead back on a Ben King (15) goal at 16:23, Scott Sabourin (17) managed to tie the score with just nine seconds left in the period as he ripped in a sharp-angle shot past Alex Stalock.
