    Episode Four: THE END GAME

In the fourth and final episode of Getting to Know the Network, we look at Roland Duchâtelet’s motives for buying Charlton, his end game.

We also take a look at the reasons Charlton were relegated into English football’s third tier. During the ill-fated 2015/16 season the club would once again have three Head Coaches and we speak to all of them as well as some of Duchatelet’s closest aides who helped him make his network vision a reality.

In this extended, 50 minute episode, we also speak to Peter Varney, Chris Powell and supporters who formed a protest group against Duchatelet, to discuss what’s coming next for Charlton.

After the sacking of Chris Powell in March 2014, the following nine months of Roland Duchâtelet’s ownership of Charlton come under the microscope in the third episode of Getting to Know the Network, The Experiment.

    Episode One: THE INHERITANCE

    Episode One: THE INHERITANCE

From the outset, it was clear that to properly measure the success and failure of Roland Duchâtelet’s network at Charlton, it was vital for Getting to Know the Network to assess the club he inherited.

Episode one, The Inheritance, sets the scene for Duchâtelet’s arrival at The Valley. It explores the years immediately prior to the takeover and why it became necessary that the club was sold.

Among those interviewed in The Inheritance is former England international and Charlton legend Chris Powell, who led the club to the League One title in 2012 and was manager of Charlton when Duchâtelet took over.

Powell, along with a series of former players, staff and board members, discuss the state of the club before anyone had heard of Roland Duchâtelet.

    Episode Two: THE WRECKING BALL

    Episode Two: THE WRECKING BALL

The first three months of Roland Duchâtelet’s reign at Charlton come under the microscope in the explosive second episode of Getting to Know the Network, The Wrecking Ball.

Duchâtelet took over in January 2014, and The Wrecking Ball focuses on the eventful recruitment process during that month’s transfer window, the repercussions of which are still being felt today.

For the first time the former chief scout of Duchâtelet’s network is interviewed about Charlton, and two of his closest advisors also speak out.

But that’s not all. Getting to Know the Network has exclusively obtained emails sent by Duchâtelet to then Charlton manager Chris Powell, and the second episode will throw a spotlight on the influence, or interference, of the owner in team matters.
