    In this episode of “In The Holding Room” Princess Month continues with the performer who was the first African-American woman to play the role of Princess Anna in the original Broadway cast of Disney’s Frozen, Aisha Jackson. She has performed in regional theaters in such shows as A Bronx Tale, Memphis, Once on this Island, and Legally Blonde. Off-Broadway she was seen in Invisible Thread (aka Witness Uganda). On Broadway, she was also in Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, and in the original Broadway cast of Frozen. She gives amazing advice on how to handle rejection by turning it into a positive, as well as how to audition for roles that are historically cast in a more “traditional way.”

Going from workshops to out-of-town tryouts, the role of Princess Jasmine was not guaranteed to her on Broadway, so when you think about it, it was almost a full three years of auditioning.
    Intro to this Episode
    In this episode of “In The Holding Room” Princess Month continues with Courtney Reed. Courtney performed on Broadway as an understudy for Lisa and Ali in the musical Mamma Mia! She was also on Broadway in the closing cast of In The Heights, performing as the understudy/replacement for the roles of Vanessa, Nina, and Carla. In 2011, she began performing in the original cast of the musical Aladdin as Princess Jasmine at the 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle. In 2012, the musical put on several regional and international productions and was given a Toronto tryout the following year. Reed stayed in the role of Princess Jasmine when Aladdin opened on Broadway at the New Amsterdam Theatre on March 20, 2014, and took her final bow on January 11, 2018. She later went on to reprise the role in the North American Tour, for a limited engagement, and once again in the West End production as part of its closing cast in 2019. Reed returned to the Broadway production for a limited engagement beginning October 16, 2019, and took her final bow as Princess Jasmine on October 27, 2019.

    In this episode of “In The Holding Room” Princess Month continues with the performer Laura Osnes. She rose to stardom after winning NBC’s reality tv competition Grease: You’re The One That I Want, earning her the role of Sandy in the Broadway revival of Grease at the age of 21. She quickly became the go-to ingenue of the Great White Way, starring as Nellie Forbush in South Pacific, Hope Harcourt in Anything Goes, Bonnie Parker in Bonnie & Clyde (Tony-Award nomination), Cinderella in Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella (Tony-Award nomination), and most recently, Julia Trojan in Bandstand, which was professionally filmed and released in movie theaters via Fathom Events.
    Osnes has charmed audiences across the nation in three Hallmark Channel original movies, One Royal Holiday (2020), A Homecoming For The Holidays (2019), and In The Key Of Love (2019). She has also been seen on television in Fosse/Verdon (F/ X), Dynasty (CW), and Elementary (CBS).
    Her crystal clear and powerful soprano regularly graces symphony halls and cabaret venues around the globe, including filmed performances with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Live from Lincoln Center (PBS), A Capitol Fourth (PBS), and The Kennedy Center Honors (CBS). She co-created and performs in the popular concert series, Broadway Princess Party, which has toured over 25 cities and garnered over 20 million views on YouTube. In addition to hearing her voice on several original Broadway cast recordings, Laura has two solo albums, “Dream A Little Dream” and “If I Tell You.”
