We spoke about what it means to fight for housing rights, how you organize your local community to fight back against corporate slumlords and how you organize to win!

In this episode, we discuss homelessness around the country, with a focus on those soon to be affected by Prop. B in Austin, TX. A "prohibition on camping, and limiting solicitation in public areas"
Also, we speak to Mujeebu from Ivy Hill, who is not only a tenant but also an organizer. Not one by trade but someone from the community itself who was inspired to come out with us and fight to protect his community. He talks to us about the fight at Ivy Hill and their own fight to get their Mosque back!

Welcome to Organize This!

In the pilot premiere for our new podcast. I (Secretary of the North New Jersey DSA) sit down with my brother (a former member of the Occupy Wallstreet movement) to talk about organizing. What is it? Why do we do it? How does it help us build a better world!

In this episode, we delve into the housing crisis in America, the exacerbations of our current system, how they've been amplified by the pandemic,  and we delve into a specific case of cruelty and housing injustice felt by the tenants of the Ivy Hill Apartments in Newark NJ.

This is our first episode and neither of us has ever done anything like this before. We take this on because we both believe it is important, and this is only the beginning. Ignore my awkwardness and our tech mishaps because, just like the movement, the only place we have to go from here is up!
