As an athlete, when I was struggling with grief and anxiety, I felt like I had no one to turn to. I don't believe I was alone in feeling that. Many athletes feel as though there is an image they have to maintain, an image that mental health disorders don’t fit in well with. They don't want to be thought of as weak.
At SPEAK, we feel it is of paramount importance to decrease the stigmatization of athletes and non-athletes alike who struggle with their mental health. To support our platform is to represent our message; to support those who struggle.
