    Episode 286 - Vantage Point

The narrative returns as we head back to 1204 and the sack of Constantinople. The arrival of the Latins had actually splintered the Roman world into at least 13 different states.
With a little help from the 2008 film 'Vantage Point' we will be following the different perspectives of these actors as they deal with the fallout from the sack.
We begin with the story of Alexios V Doukas who fled the city just before it fell.

I came for more Roman history…

… and stayed for the riots, plagues, palace intrigues and religious slapfights!

Even better then Mike Duncan

I went into this podcast with some apprehension. I listened to Mike Duncans "History of Rome" with at least some superficial background in Roman history. But Byzantium was a total black hole to me. Robin not only ended this sorry state of affairs with me, he gave history podcasts new structure with his end of century reviews and his topical excursions into other matters than just the narrative. A must for any history fan.
