51 - Lock Your Doors...Chicago's Crime of the Century
Well, it's been a hot minute, but we're back! Life got pretty crazy and hectic for the last 6 months and we had to take a longer break than anticipated. From broken collarbones to moving, to weddings and jobs changes, we didn't get nearly all the progress made that we wanted but we are thrilled to finally be back and settling into a (hopefully) less hectic schedule.
For our Halloween premiere, Anastasia is opening with a tale that'll have you double checking your locks and windows tonight...
This case is the one that is described as "ending the age of innocence" in the United States. Most people are unaware of this case, but it is one of the first random mass murders in the 20 century here, and became the reason why many began locking their doors at night. Enter one dark and dreary night, a man by the name of Richard Speck and the 8 nurses who Fortune turned her face from...and the 2 that she favored.
Join us as we enter the history of a quiet townhouse filled with nurses that would soon be filled with horror...
Wait to Panic is a weekly podcast where two longtime friends take turns sharing stories that just might make your skin crawl. 50 - The Murder of Mary Olenchuk
Welcome back for our season finale!
Anastasia is covering our final episode before we take some time off to work on Season Two, merch ideas, and more! We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has made our first year such a success- we're truly blown away by it all! Tune back in for Season Two starting up in October!
But first, story time! Blake actually dug this one up from reddit- the kidnapping and murder of Mary Catherine Olenchuk. The case is the oldest cold case in the state of Maine, and certainly one of the more baffling. With no apparent motive, the case immediately hit a brick wall and has stayed that way ever since...for over 50 years. Listen in and let us know your theories!

48: Oleg Sokolov
Welcome back for another week of horror! Anastasia's going to be glad she's sitting this one out while she moves...Loren's guest feature is Rory- back again for another story that will horrify and enthrall. This week's feature? Oleg Sokolov, the Russian Napoleonic historian, re-enactor, Docent of History, and (now being withdrawn) recipient of The Legion of Honor (Chevalier)...and convicted murderer of Anastasia Yeshchenko.
In November 2019, Oleg was found in the Moyka River in St Petersburg with a backpack containing a pair of human arms and a weapon. Oleg claims he was going to get rid of the body before publicly committing suicide dressed as Napoleon. Join us this week for the full details of this strange case!

47- The Dullahan of Ireland
Welcome back!
This Sunday, we're back with a myths and lore episode! Anastasia is up and sharing the popular folklore of the Dullahan. A type of Fae from Irish lore, this being appears as a person riding upon a black horse with no head on their shoulders. They carry their missing head under their arm, raising it up to search for souls to take.
Now, you're probably thinking, "Hey! That sounds like the Headless Horseman!" and you'd be right! There are many popular retellings of this Fae throughout the world, from Sleepy Hollow, to Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. If you have a favorite Dullahan type story, feel free to drop us a line!

Loren's Horrifying Song Reference -
46 - Susan Smith
Bonus background puppy jingles.
Welcome back creeper peepers! Loren is up this week with a truly horrifying story. On October 25, 1994, Susan Smith reported that she was carjacked in South Carolina by an unknown man at a traffic stop. He took her two small children in the backseat of her car and drove off.
To the public, Susan was a distraught mother, making pleas for their safe return through the media outlets, alongside her ex-husband David. Both Susan and David had multiple affairs during their on-and-off relationship, and used their young children as pawns throughout their troubled marriage. To his credit, David did seem like he was a devoted father who genuinely loved his two children. Susan however...well, that's a different story.
As you might suspect, the truth behind the whole ordeal was darker than what met the eye and the story that unfolded will probably horrify and infuriate you as much as it did us.
