Occupational Therapy misunderstanding

Hi Em, thank you for your pod. I just have to say in your latest episode when you conflated OT and ABA this is incorrect. ABA is not a OT intervention. Sure elements may be used by some ill informed OTs, but it is not at all an Of therapy or philosophy. It comes from behaviourism in psychology and is practiced by Behaviour Analysists. I am ND myself and studying OT and this absolutely is not apart of OT. I think it could give parents the wrong idea and put them off OTs. There may be some individuals who do this and if so they should be avoided but it’s not from OT or apart of our practice, it goes against the very philosophies of OT which are about supporting individuals wellbeing and individuality
