Tempest
Tempest, a classic? Well... maybe. Bob takes us on a trip around America, The Titanic and Shakespeare as he delivers some great songs on a victory lap.

A must for Dylan fans
I only got into this podcast after it was already finished but I’m so glad I discovered it. Brilliantly produced and presented. Full of interesting facts and anecdotes but doesnt suffer from over analysis. The multi-part episodes for the most famous albums are the highlight
This is the most amazing podcast
The level of detail across the entire canon of Dylan’s album is mind blowing. I zoned in on Freewheelin to start listening. I’ve learnt so much.
If I could also add that yes the lyrics are all important in this song, but the reason this album stands out for me as his best is because of the sound. Firstly, his Guitar playing is as good as you’ll hear on any other Dylan album.
Secondly, his voice. at this time his Voice sounds as good as it ever sounded. To my ears, Dylan's Voice. Progressively over the years became thinner and thinner, but in 62 and 63 and pipes earlier, his voice is so rich, it’s smoky and sweet.
Back to the Guitar. Is Guitar he used in this recording just sounds incredible for me. It will always remain as a reference I think in his subsequent albums he change Guitars and again, the sound as much thinner. For me personally, this album is a reference album for Music with just Guitar and Voice.
It was interesting to learn from your podcast that the album took 12 months to record. This makes so much sense if feels like there is a level of detail and effort gone into this album. That is some times not there in later albums. And finally, there is just a vibrance to this album is delivering his phrasing and just the energy of his youth that comes through. It really is a time capsule.
Thanks for the amazing podcast, and congratulation on your work.
Fantastic
Just discovered this podcast…and have realised it is now a historical record with no more episodes scheduled. Fantastic stuff - obviously a labour of love - thoughtful and clear. Top shelf. Thanks.
