Morning Report 1 May 24: ASX to drop as hot US labour data sinks Wall Street

Morning Report 1 May 24: ASX to drop as hot US labour data sinks Wall Street

US stocks faced downward pressure overnight due to reinvigorated inflation concerns, leading to expectations of a similar trend in Aussie shares, anticipated to start May on a negative note after experiencing their worst month since October. Stronger wages data in the US fuelled fears of inflation and prompted a downturn in the stock market, which could result in a hawkish pivot by the US Federal Reserve at tonight's meeting. Tom and Ryan also discuss developments in commodity markets, such as fluctuations in oil and gold prices, along with Australian home price data and the ongoing BHP-Anglo American deal.

Enjoyable, if fairly superficial

A fun light-hearted listen, with likeable presenters, even if they can be a little dopey sometimes. Pretty limited in terms of novel information or incisive analysis but a nice way to keep a finger on the pulse of the daily market.

Transcript needed

It would be good to have transcript displayed . As English as a second language listener, it is too fast 🥲

Fantastic Podcast

I have just discovered this podcast and it is exactly what I have been looking for. It is awesome. Not too long and very interesting and most of all I love the fact that Steve explains things so well and also doesn’t assume that the listeners are stock market experts and so Steve provides some explanation of things that he talks about and he also doesn’t use lots of jargon.
Really fantastic - highly recommend! Thank you Steve!
