Despite the Grateful Dead’s ethos of peace and love and communal music, there is a darkness that surrounds the band. Across five decades, a string of unexplained accidents, murders and disappearances have befallen some of the band’s most dedicated fans; affectionately known as "DeadHeads." Some were last seen on their way to Grateful Dead concerts, others simply vanished or were tragically murdered while attending shows.

In 1995, Bridget Pendell-Williamson travelled around the US before ending up in San Francisco staying at residential hotels. She last spoke to her family in December of 1996, and was booked by police in 1997. This is the last known record of her before she went missing.

Brilliant & Engaging
To anyone complaining about the ads, that’s how podcasts are able to do what they do and when it’s as excellent as this one is, it’s worth it. It’s been awhile since a true crime podcast has enthralled me so much! Yay!
Tooooooo much dribble
I love Payne’s component of this podcast but the long dribble in between is best just to skip! It’s overdramatised, monotonous and pointless. I lost count of how many times I skipped through!
50% worth it
This would be a really interesting podcast if it were just Payne investigating the Deadhead-related crimes. Jake’s flowery interludes are so pretentious and his voice is “cool guy” grating. It’s great to have some insight into the band and their history, but not from this guy. He tries too hard to be effortlessly cool and poetic, but it’s just annoying. Skip through his stuff and stick to the investigation and interviews - much more interesting.
