Financial Abuse and Divorce: Signs your Spouse is Hiding Money: with guest Tracy Coenen The Moms Moving On Divorce & Co-Parenting Podcast

    • Self-Improvement

What is financial abuse in a marriage and what can you do about it? This week forensic accountant Tracy Coenen joins Michelle Dempsey-Multack to educate listeners on the signs of financial abuse and what to do if you feel your spouse is hiding money.
In this episode of Moms Moving On, Tracy shares:

What to do when you are being controlled financially

Educating yourself on money as an adult

Relying on family and friends when starting over financially

Identifying red flags that your spouse is hiding money

AND MUCH MORE

Tracy has been investigating fraud for more than 25 years, but she didn’t always want to be a forensic accountant. With a dream of one day being a prison warden, Tracy went to Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI to get a criminology degree. A class on financial crime investigations reminded her how much she loved Encyclopedia Brown books as a kid. She continued her criminology degree, but added accounting and economics courses so she could sit for the CPA exam… and here Tracy is, finding money in cases of corporate fraud, high net worth divorce, and other financial shenanigans. Tracy created the Divorce Money Guide to help people find the money in divorce.

Tracy is known as a no nonsense forensic accountant who delivers the “real deal” to her clients. Let’s face it: When your money is on the line, there is zero time to dance around an issue. Her passion lies in helping people find answers. Answers to questions like “Where did our money go?”

After years of watching those who couldn’t justify the cost of a forensic accountant lose thousands of dollars in their divorces, Tracy knew she had to create a solution. That’s why she put her heart into creating the Divorce Money Guide. Tracy takes divorcing people step-by-step through the process of gathering and analyzing their financial documents to see whether there is money missing.
