Episode 42: Linda Åkerberg - 2019 Female Adventurer of the Year - Hike or Die Outdoor Adventure Podcast

Having the opportunity to speak with Linda Åkerberg on this episode was something I'd looked forward to from the first time we spoke and now I'm really excited to be able to release this episode so that everyone can learn something from her. With the title of Female Adventurer of the Year 2019, Linda also speaks to us about her other passions as an author, outdoor photographer, mountain climber and Kayak Instructor. Linda has so much trail knowledge and she happily shares that with us in this episode.

Episode 41: How to choose the perfect hiking backpack - HIKE OR DIE Outdoor Adventure Podcast

Episode 41: How to choose the perfect hiking backpack - HIKE OR DIE Outdoor Adventure Podcast

Why is choosing a new hiking backpack so difficult? Apart from an endless list of brands, models and sizes, there is the added pressure of making the correct choice given that a new pack is such a big ticket item. When you consider all of that, it's not surprising that it can be extremely overwhelming for both beginner and veteran hikers.

Episode 040: Our crazy hike, wet-out, canoeing the Yukon and the Worlds worst hiking partners - HIKE OR DIE Outdoor Adventure Podcast

Episode 040: Our crazy hike, wet-out, canoeing the Yukon and the Worlds worst hiking partners - HIKE OR DIE Outdoor Adventure Podcast

We recently embarked on our wettest hike in a long time. I'm talking, so wet that roads were flooding and campsites were closing. We tell you all about it in this episode, including yet another leech encounter for Craig, and it's a good one too.
We also share some news on the third woman to complete all 158 summits of the Able Mountains, a crazy story of mountain climbers in the 70s when a Drug Plane crashes into a Yosemite lake. We also discuss "wet-out" in your rain gear and how to fix it.
And if you aren't sure if you are considered one of the 17 worst hiking partners in the world, then you better take a listen to put your mind at ease, or at least help you change your ways.

Just two blokes talking with ambient forest noise with no video.

Keep up the good work!

Inspirational and insightful banter about all things hiking

I discovered this podcast before Xmas 2021 and as I typically do, after listening to one of the episodes and enjoy what I hear, go back and start listening from the 1st episode onwards. That way I get the insight jokes (Robin, man) and get to be part of the podcast journey.

I have thoroughly enjoyed all the episodes and love the friendship and no-nonsense attitude that comes through between hosts and guests. At times it really made me laugh with tears in my eyes and I must have gotten some odd looks from others, while listening. One occurrence that comes to mind is when Tom and Craig go through all the various gear and after discussing the increasingly expensive high tech GPS safety gear, Toms addition of the whistle, feels totally out of order in that line up.

Bottom line, if you enjoy long form talks about all things hiking from an Australian perspective, give this one a try.

I am a big new fan and cannot wait until the next podcast adventure now I’ve worked my way through the back catalogue and have to wait like everybody else. Keep up the great work! Finally, Sorry to all my other podcasts who have been neglected while I was making my way through the hours of conversations ( followed up by the checking the links in the show notes!) 💪

Great podcast but am missing your pre covid regular episodes guys. Hope you’ll keep your podcast going as it’s great to have Australian hiking content.
