Welcome to the Men of Words Podcast! This is a platform for conversation with successful people about Mental Health. Our aim is to speak to males at the top of their fields across sport, business, music and anything in between to hear stories of adversity, failure, success and the Mental Health journey throughout. Opening up about these issues is historically not our strong-suit as males and that is the area we are hoping to have some affect. Liam (Murph) and Michael (Muff) are long time friends with intersecting journeys through the highs and lows of Mental Health, having had personal and professional relationships for years and many conversations like the ones we are choosing to have with these elite performers. Our goal is a simple one. If we can motivate someone to have a conversation about their mental health, be it with friends, family or a professional, then we have achieved our goal. Thanks so much for listening, for any questions or queries please contact us through Instagram @menofwordspodcast or email us at menofwordspodcast@gmail.com If you need support, it's there. Talk to a friend, family, your GP or call Lifeline on 13 11 14.

    Sam Fischer Returns

    Sam Fischer Returns

Our boy. Sam Fischer is an Australian Singer Songwriter, we had the honour of talking to him a while back and this time we got to join him in person!

It's amazing to see the trajectory he has taken from the last time we spoke, really leaning into therapy and doing the hard work to improving his Mental Health.

We cross the board on this one, lots of topics and he is an honesty black-belt! Please enjoy the conversation with Sam Fischer.

    Kita Alexander

    Kita Alexander

Our chat today is with Australian Singer-songwriter Kita Alexander.

Kita’s is an unusual trajectory into the music industry… but once she had begun this amazing career there were more than enough roadblocks to dishearten anyone and think about giving up. Fortunately for us, Kita persists and is making great music for the people now and touring Australia for her 1st headline show!

She provides a very impressive level of wisdom and introspection throughout this chat and can talk about her tough experiences with a level of gratitude for the lessons they provided and the skills she has to handle life now.

Big thanks to Kita, to Warner Music Group and to all of you for listening…!

#34 - WOMEN OF WORDS - Laura Henshaw

#34 - WOMEN OF WORDS - Laura Henshaw

Hey everyone, welcome to another episode.
Today’s ep brings us the 2nd of the legends behind Keep it Cleaner, the health & wellness community & app, our guests is the the partner-in-pilates to Steph Claire Smith & CEO of their hugely successful business - Laura Henshaw.

Laura is an author, speaker, podcast host and even snuck a law degree in there somehow! She’s an incredibly driven person and in the chat you’ll hear how self-aware she is, though it took some work which we she dives into as well.

I think this is an important chat to hear about the difficulty of life with a public persona. It is a reality of what Laura & Steph have created but it doesn’t make it an easy thing to deal with, Laura talks through some of her experiences with this and ho hard it is to see past it when it’s happening to you.
Big thanks to the KIC team for having us, big love to Laura for joining us and huge shout out to Cozette our social media & marketing manager jumping behind the mic and joining the interview! Glad we get the chance to show off our superstar behind the scenes, you’re a champion Cozzy.

    Conversation #33 - Pete Murray

    Conversation #33 - Pete Murray

Pete Murray. If you've learned guitar for more than a week in Australia you've found your way to one of Pete's hits and this is a very proud chat for the Men of Words to be having!

Pete is an Australian Musician, came to music pretty late in life by industry standards when he travelled and picked up a guitar at 21. From there... non stop #1 songs and albums, ARIA nominations and 6 studio albums to date.

Pete goes big in this chat. Taking this opportunity to try and share from his harrowing experiences early in his life and the perspective he gained from it.

This was a pretty profound chat and we are so grateful for Pete being who is he is and joining us for the chat.

CW: In this conversation, the guys cover some sensitive topics including suicide and may be uncomfortable for listeners. We encourage everyone to never worry alone, there are incredible support services available if you need.
