Welcome to the Men of Words Podcast! This is a platform for conversation with successful people about Mental Health. Our aim is to speak to males at the top of their fields across sport, business, music and anything in between to hear stories of adversity, failure, success and the Mental Health journey throughout. Opening up about these issues is historically not our strong-suit as males and that is the area we are hoping to have some affect. Liam (Murph) and Michael (Muff) are long time friends with intersecting journeys through the highs and lows of Mental Health, having had personal and professional relationships for years and many conversations like the ones we are choosing to have with these elite performers. Our goal is a simple one. If we can motivate someone to have a conversation about their mental health, be it with friends, family or a professional, then we have achieved our goal. Thanks so much for listening, for any questions or queries please contact us through Instagram @menofwordspodcast or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org If you need support, it's there. Talk to a friend, family, your GP or call Lifeline on 13 11 14.
#22 WOMEN OF WORDS - Georgia Mae
Australian singer/songwriter/producer/audio angel Georgia Mae joined us for a conversation today and she is an absolute champion!
Georgia has released her own music, worked on some amazing films & TV shows making music & SFX/sound design so knows her way around the nuts and bolts of making music and has the drive and ambition to make a life out of the thing she loves!
Her music is very honest, it's an extension of her passions and is also a lovely listen! That's her passion these days on the music front and we are so stoked she was able to join us for a chat.
Please enjoy our conversation with Georgia Mae!
Conversation #21 - Jordy & Vince TEENAGE DADS
We. Love. Teenage. Dads.
Jordy Finlay and Vince Kinna joined us for this conversation today from a very much still in lockdown Melbourne a few weeks ago.
These guys are mates making music with no plans to stop making more of both! They have a very clear determination and it's so great to hear each of them bounce off one another and how excited they are to be getting back to playing shows and building the band again.
This conversation took a few left turns into some areas that were outside the comfort zone and we are so grateful for the guys taking the chance to lean into an honest and at times vulnerable conversation. Please enjoy!
#20 WOMEN OF WORDS - Belinda Madonini
In this episode, we talked to entrepreneur and founder of BIANKO Jewellery Belinda Madonini.
We love the Women of Words conversations as a way to get new perspective on Mental Health and this is a great one. Belinda has found her way in the jewellery business to have a positive impact on the Mental Health space and in particular raise money for charities improving the lives of women here in Australia and globally.
Belinda has a very similar story of discovery to us which made us both very happy to share in that with her and we are so grateful she was able to join us for a chat.
Conversation #19 - Clemens Rehbein MILKY CHANCE
Today we have a conversation with Clemens Rehbein, one of the founding members and lead singer/guitarist of Milky Chance. What a band, and what a great fella for joining us for a chat!
Clemens jumped on from Germany, where they were getting warmed up for their touring starting to kick off again and we are so grateful he made the time for us.
We talked about his early days, how Milky Chance came from friendship and continues to be successful for that very reason. Please enjoy the conversation.
#18 WOMEN OF WORDS - Eves Karydas
Hannah Evyenia Karydas - Eves Karydas, formally Eves the Behaviour is an Greek Australian artist that we were SO STOKED to have had an evening to chat to as a part of the pod.
What a chat! Hannah said to us towards the end of this one that conversations about Mental Health is often something she talks to men about, so we are very grateful that she was willing to join us and think there is a lot to take from this ep.
She shows a heap of self-awareness throughout, she talks about being constantly on the sliding scale of Mental Health and is finding what helps her find the balance, which all of us struggle with (even Hannah!) Her perspective she offered on Men's Mental Health was amazing, exactly what I think men need to hear - the positive light our female friends and family view us when we "talk about our stuff". Loved hearing that from Hannah!
This year, Reruns EP released with some absolute bangers! We talk about the music and what life threw at her that has fund some closure in being released to the world as songs and SO much more in this episode. Please enjoy!
Conversation #17 - Asher Packman
Asher Packman is an extraordinary man! Where to even begin...
Asher is the President of Meditation Australia and Founder of Warrior Within - an amazing community of men turning inward to be more mindful and meaningful. Along with these, he is Wim Hoff Method Instructor, Yoga instructor and has worked for some of the biggest brands in the world in this very multi-faceted life!
Formative experiences throughout Asher's whole life have led to a life lives in pursuit of understanding the world around us and sharing that with others - we literally sat entranced through this chat and went away with a lot to think about.
We are so grateful to Asher for this, we strongly encourage you to visit the Warrior Within & join the community and we hope you enjoy the conversation!
Love your work boys! Insightful and enjoyable conversations that are genuinely interesting to listen to. Not only that, but also having a tangible impact on breaking down the stigma around mental health
Just listened to Dyson Heppell podcast what a down to earth guy, he’s got incredible natural focus.
Terrible questions. Ever heard of short, sharp questions? Like a couple of 12 years olds doing the pod. “Did you ever, like, Umm”. 🤦♂️
