My guest today is Alice Ng’ang’a. She planned to climb Batian, the highest peak of Mt Kenya, but when she reached Nelion, the second highest peak, her intuition told her to stop even though Batian was just 200m away and it would have taken her 90 minutes to get there. Her story reinforces the old saying “trust your gut”. You might wonder whether you should put so much trust in a feeling, an instinct you can't explain. My guest today is Selam Bekele Kairu was born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia but currently holds a Kenyan Citizenship. She is married to Ken Kairu and together they have two beautiful daughters Debbie aged 13 and Favor 10. Selam is passionate about helping others and seeing them succeed in all they do. She is the founder and visionary behind "The Shine From Within", a non-profit organisation she began in 2020 during the COVID pandemic. I am back!!
My plan was to come back at the end of January….but life threw me a curved ball when a dear friend died…. I had no idea grief was going to affect me like this…i lost the desire to do the things l loved; it all seemed pointless…. Waking up was drudgery…. I went through motions of keeping up with life.... The cloud has now lifted... See you next week

I wanted to end the year with this episode with a gratitude practice. It seems like everyone is focused on ushering in 2022. It has been the second year of living with this pandemic. As we come to the end of the year it’s easy for us to focus on what we don’t have or what hasn’t worked for us or on what we’ve lost–a relationship, our health, a job or the wellbeing of someone close to us. Sometimes to live is an act of courage…

My guest today is 84 year-old Mr Arrow Solomon Oburu who describes himself as a proud grandpa, father and husband to Peres Atieno Oburu. He has just published his first book, Passing The Baton.
