Jesus the Idiom Generator
There's one paragraph in Matthew 5 that seems to animate HR policy in Christian non-profits. Often employees are advised to turn the other cheek or go the extra mile, which ends up compounding whatever injustice they are facing. Jesus is instead offering something subversive to equip the mistreated to turn the tables and move society toward justice.

Jesus and Social Distance
Jesus interacted with people in different positions in society in different ways. Using a grid to map how many steps Jesus took from society's purported center shows how far he is driven to show his love. In fact, he ends up walking the edges of society at least as often as he's in the "center" lambasting the hypocritical leaders. Jesus is the center, a mobile center, living at the edges to bring the center to the conventional margins and the conventional outsiders in.

The Big Picture of Lamentations
Lamentations is a collection of songs that are some of the most pitiful downers to hit the Top 40 in the last 3,000 years. Anybody who quotes from Lamentations goes for the bridge in the middle that is nice and encouraging. We miss the impact of this encouragement when we ignore the sad songs and waltzes that haven't been selling for millennia.
