I like listening to this podcast, while gardening and doing other things that I like to do, but can be made better with something great to listen to which is why I like this podcast so much because the hosts are nice and engaging in. Their range of guests are fun and have some nice opinions, overall a good podcast

Amazing to listen to the episodes and the passion you guys have for the Zelda franchise. If you haven’t listened to 17 The Dragon’s Tears please do your else a favor. Keep up the amazing work 👌👌

I’ve been on and off with Sacred Realms due to moving house and general life admin, but dived (dove? ground/grinded? ;) )back into the Breath of the Wild runthroughs as I played the game ahead of TotK.

Lyndon and Matt (and their guests) do a great systematic review of the games piece by piece with consistency and sensitivity. The pod is well-structured and focuses on (hurrah!) the games, lore and general Nintendo-Zelda-ness. The rapport between the hosts is great - as someone with two brothers its like sitting around the dinner table at times. The guests are Zeldexperts, knowledgeable about Zelda and really involved and prominent in the community. Justice finally for Cody’s South Australian representation as well - SA is a beautiful state (but don’t invite Queenslanders on).

I must admit I was quite put out at the low rating of Link to the Past during their rundown but the wounds are healing slowly. I’m hoping I also won’t be disappointed come review of Majora’s Mask - I know the runthrough will be nuanced either way. Probably time to take off my nostalgia goggles.

What pushed me to deliver a 5 star review and jump on Patreon to support was the consideration of Vilia, the merchant in Gerudo Desert, in C11 of the BotW rundown. I find consideration of sexuality and gender in games fascinating, and while its generally fairly muted in Zelda titles, was interested to hear your takes. I think even just hearing the phrase ‘I’m a cis heterosexual guy so maybe not best placed to comment on this’ was refreshing. I’m gay, so also not an expert on trans depictions, even as trans people are decidedly a part of my community. (Also side note - if Vilia is Gerudo, but was assigned as a ‘man’ at birth and is now identifying as a woman, does that mean there was a Gerudo assigned male at birth in the game besides Ganon/dorf? And Vilia has rejected this role to be a woman?). The Bolson Construction company was also a little controversial in BoTW for how Bolson was depicted (I personally love it - I work with gay construction engineers all the time). And please, would love more discussion about queer icon and legend, Ghirahim! Or Link as an ‘asexual just trying to do his job’ throughout the games!
