Secrets & Spies aims to seek out and engage in meaningful discussions with experts and practitioners about espionage, terrorism, geopolitics and intrigue.
Not all episodes are directly about espionage as some topics, such as terrorism, are pretty complex and require a look at the underlying ideology behind it to lead to a deeper understanding of the topic.
Also, due to the nature of the podcast topics, some episodes delve into the contemporary politics behind an issue. The podcast does its best to remain balanced. However, the show does take a critical view of the MAGA movement, far-left/far-right politics and Trumpism.

This is my go to podcast for all things related to espionage, geopolitics and foreign policy. Chris, Matt and others are always interesting and informative. They are on the side of democracy but still offer a realistic and even handed account of the issues of the day.

One little point, “On The Beach” was set in Melbourne Australia. Not New Zealand. There have been 2 films made of the book, one in the late 1950s and one in 2000. The first starred Gregory Peck, Ava Gardner and Fred Astaire. The second film had a largely Australian cast. Both were shot in Melbourne. Though a bleak story, both are worth watching as they give a perspective on nuclear Armageddon 40 years apart. Of course, New Zealand could well have been the setting but Neville Shute was an Australian writer. The reference to this book was appropriate in terms of illustrating the collapse of reason as the thing that leads to the failure of civilisation. The Dr.
