    Ep 8, The wedding photographer

    Ep 8, The wedding photographer

Well even with mobile phone cameras, we still all know the pressure of getting the perfect shot to capture that special moment before it passes. Now imagine that moment is at a wedding and people are spending hundreds if not thousands of dollars to make sure you don't miss those once in a lifetime moments. Well that's the kind of pressure Farrah Allen deals with on a weekly basis, shooting weddings across the city of Melbourne. But it's not as though it's all smooth sailing once that job is done. She's the mother of three young children, which means daily life is filled with all sorts of surprising moments. So how does her Christian faith help her navigate these different roles? And who's harder to manage? Is it the toddler or the stressed out couple leading up to their wedding day? We're gonna talk about all that and more

Ep 7, Reshaping work and church

Ep 7, Reshaping work and church

Well over the years a regular conversation I've had with both pastors and Christians in the workplace is how to bridge the church-work divide. Many pastors want to help their members be equipped for their life at work while many workers express a desire for their church to be more connected to their work life. Today we meet one pastor who's passionate about deepening this connection between work and church. Exploring the difference it's made to his congregation and his advice for how other churches could do the same.

Ep 6, Women, work, and calling

Ep 6, Women, work, and calling

The working landscape has changed dramatically in recent years with the rise in working from home in the wake of COVID to the technological advances of AI and its impact. But long before these recent changes, the industrial revolution of the 1700s had an impact upon the relationship between work and home, which is still with us today. Known as the Golden Age of Domesticity. Women increasingly found themselves taking the role of maintaining the home while men went out to the factories. In the past few decades many changes have taken place leading to more women in paid employment outside of the home.

However, many Christian women often lament feeling ill-equipped to know what does it mean to be a follower of Jesus if this is the context for their work.

They hear teaching about how to follow Jesus in the home, but around the boardroom table, well that can be harder to come by. Enter Joanna Meyer, whose passion is to inspire, empower, and equip Christian women for influence in public life. And so to talk more about how she does this and the unique issues facing Christian women at work

    Ep 5, The forest underground

What do you want to do when you grow up? It's a question we frequently ask children, and it's a question you were perhaps asked often as a child. For Tony Renaudo, he had two childhood fascinations, trees and the continent of Africa. And when he grew up, these two passions came together in an extraordinary way in his work. But I'll let him share more of that story.

    Ep 3, Workplace burnout

Burnout has long been a problem impacting Australians in the workplace. But in the wake of the Covid pandemic its prevalence has skyrocketed, with one major 2022 study finding Australia has the highest level of work burnout in the world.

Dr Amy Imms knows what it’s like to burn out. The overwhelm and the loneliness associated with it. But she also knows what it's like to recover.

And these days that’s what fills her working hours, running The Burnout Project, giving hope to others who have burnt out.
