And Nuttall says no favours were asked for and no favors were given after he received $300,000 from mining magnate Ken Talbot.

04 - Operation Gumnut - Parole
Operation Gumnut... the top secret plan to sneak Gordon Nuttall past the waiting media and into the arms of his family after his parole is granted over 6 years into his 14 year sentence.

03 - Meeting a Murderer
In Episode 3 of The Man Behind the Rose disgraced former Beattie Government cabinet minister Gordon Nuttall is still in maximum security but now he has been summoned to meet with a multiple murderer and is given a 'job' that means he has to run the gauntlet of the jail's strict search regimen.
And Gordon's Guardian angel is his eldest daughter Lisa who wrote and rang everyone she could think of in a desperate bid to get her father out of maximum security.. We hear from her for the first time since Nuttall was jailed more than 14 years ago.

02 - From Early Days to Maximum Security
In this episode of The Man Behind the Rose we go back to the very beginning of Gordon Nuttall's political career and there's a surprising twist in the parallels between 1986 and 2009.

Ignorance is no excuse
This is a story of a man stuck in time.. He broke the law, and by his own admittance asked for and got a loan from a dubious avenue whilst in a position of power. He was made an example of to ensure others are deterred from doing the same, this sometimes happens and is in line with social expectations. The mere possibility of impropriety is enough to get you in trouble and it’s a shame he doesn’t understand this.
Good Podcast
A good listen about jail etc. He did get very harshly dealt with at sentence but also did take it to trial. No one’s offering me $300k loans , maybe because I’m. not a minster of the crown.

Have loved this podcast. What a terrible sentence for a white collar crime and we have terrible people out there getting away with murder! He was used as a scapegoat! I wish you all the best with your health issues.
