Having run a successful performing, recording, composing, arranging, teaching and international publishing business Mike continues to live in the small regional city of his birth in Queensland Australia, while taking his music talents to the world.In Episode 2 we chat with Jim Manley, a truly world class contemporary trumpet player, recording artist and music educator based in St Louis USA. Jim is widely respected in the brass playing community for his effortless playing and his ability to teach efficiency for the trumpet and has recently released his 20th album.Episode 3 features top Sydney Australia based saxophone, flute and EWI session musician and educator, Andrew Oh. Andrew has performed internationally with some of the biggest names in the music business and has released a number of world-class recordings.Episode 4 features one of Australia's premier electric bass guitarists, Roger McLachlan.     My special guest on this episode of The Music Mind Podcast is Peter Northcote, a professional guitar player of some 50 years career experience based in Sydney Australia. 

    Peter is in all probability the most recorded guitarist in Australian music history. He has toured and performed with some of this country's biggest music acts including Darryl Braithwaite, Dragon, Jenny Morris, Margaret Urlich, Richard Clapton, John Farnham and Jimmy Barnes. He has also performed with international acts such as The Monkees and Tom Jones.

    Having lived the life of a top session musician in Sydney doing at times up to 10 recording sessions a day, if you live in Australia you would have almost certainly heard Peter's guitar work on advertisements for major companies such as Toyota, McDonalds, KFC and many others.

    As a composer and player he has more than 300 original compositions to his credit with his production music being featured on major USA television programs included Oprah.

    The conversation covers a wide variety of topics including making a living as a musician, balancing the requirements of running a business while maintaining creative energy, being a sideman vs the front man, reading music, running a recording studio, understanding harmony and doing what you want to do in life.

    My special guest on this episode of The Music Mind Podcast is a professional trombone player and long time Los Angeles based studio musician Alan Kaplan. 

    Alan has played on over 1000 movie soundtracks, countless television productions, live performances and recordings with some of the biggest names in the music industry. He toured with the famous Buddy Rich Big Band and with the Harry James Band for several years.  Buddy Rich and Harry James are regarded as genuine legends in the history of jazz and virtuoso talents on their respective instruments being drums and trumpet.

    Alan also had the opportunity to meet and record with perhaps the most famous name in pop music and song writing across the past 60 years, Sir Paul McCartney of The Beatles' fame.
