Turning to the Mystics is a podcast for people searching for something more meaningful, intimate and richly present in the divine gift of their lives. James Finley, clinical psychologist and Living School faculty, offers a modern take on the historical contemplative practices of Christian mystics like Teresa of Avila, Thomas Merton, John of the Cross among others. Leaning into their experiences can become a gateway to hope, healing and oneness. Together with Kirsten Oates from the Center for Action and Contemplation, they explore listener questions and examine their own paths as modern contemplatives in this beautiful and broken world.

Glorious
I am loving these podcasts & get so much inspiration & consolation from them. Was particularly moved by the Julian of Norwich series & the one with Mirabai was full of grace. ♥️🙏🏼
Wonderful
I’ve listed to these episodes over and again as there is so much benefit for my meditation, prayer and understanding of my spiritual life. I love the connection James makes between the psychological spiritual life as this is rarely explored and so needed to heal in a traumatised world. The guidance in meditation is an added gem and helping me live more wholesomely. I hope you keep making more episodes.
So helpful
Thank you so much James. Your episodes are so helpful as I relate to them so much, and you have such an amazing way of putting these experiences into words- which are so hard to explain. They encourage me and I feel excited that I’m not mad! Thank you 😊
