    It's Time To Talk

    It's Time To Talk

Since most people don’t like to talk about the fact they’re aging, this can be the most difficult part of the whole process. In this episode, we talk about the things a lot of people do wrong at this point which can shut down future conversations or make it difficult for loved ones to open up.

We look at the right way to approach the topic and the importance of understanding this is about increasing independence for someone who is aging rather than taking their independence away.

We give you advice on how to start the conversation, what things you need to cover, documents and details you’ll need to start putting together and what things you can get sorted on your own.

At every step, it’s essential your loved one feels like they’re involved in the decision making so this is a really crucial stage and we’re here to help you through it.

    Staying At Home: Home Care

    Staying At Home: Home Care

In this episode we explore the services you can access as part of the Home Care Package. You may have a loved one who’s been getting low-level help at home, either privately or through CHSP but over time those care needs have increased and more help is needed.

We’ll go through tips on the assessment process, how to access services, how to set realistic timelines and how to make sure, when you need a higher level of care, you’re not still on a waiting list.

We’ll also let you know what to do once you’re offered a package and discuss the importance of having an ACAT assessment at home if you want to keep your care options open.

    Residential Respite

    Residential Respite

This episode will help you understand what residential respite is and how to access it if you have a loved one who needs a higher level of care for a short-term period.

Or, if you are a carer and you’re going away or need a break and want to make sure your loved one is looked after. We also discuss how respite can be a great way to trial aged care facilities and get people comfortable with a home if they need to move in full time.
