Stories, DIY small business tips and unfiltered experiences of women building empires alongside raising families.

    17. Why I want to break up with social media for my business (and how I plan to do it)

    17. Why I want to break up with social media for my business (and how I plan to do it)

I don't know about you but I've been feeling more disenchanted with social media lately.  Ironically, for something that is supposed to bring us together more, I feel more disconnected than ever.

Comparisonitis rears it's ugly head and the stories of not-enoughness begin to emerge.

I find myself feeling jealous when I see other people and business owners that have opted-out of using socials - then I thought; Why can't I do that too?

So here I am, planning a prolonged break up from social media and I'm bringing you along for the ride.

    In this episode I cover:

Why I want to break up with socials.
How social media can negatively affect us as business owners.
My game plan for getting leads without socials.
Details for the first Honest Biz Brunch for Perth women in business.

    16. A morning routine that's perfect for mum-life.

    16. A morning routine that's perfect for mum-life.

I noticed that when I was reading stories from other successful entrepreneurs, they all name a morning routine as being pivotal in their success.

I loved the idea of a morning routine however; having three little kids and a husband that isn't here half the time, I found it was virtually impossible to implement any of the routines I was hearing about.  I don't have the ability to leave the house in the early hours of the morning to exercise, same goes in the evening.  I can't duck off to meditate for 15 minutes because I'm 'on-duty' from the moment I'm woken by my kid(s).

That's why today I'm sharing with you my morning routine which is 100% mum-friendly and takes no more than 10 minutes each morning.  By practicing this morning routine I feel calmer, centred and more proactive in the way I go about my day and work.

    In this episode I cover:

Why morning routines are so helpful as a busy mum.
What makes a good morning routine.
Tips for being consistent with your routine in the mornings.
I share with you my 10 minute morning routine.

    15. The power of word-of-mouth marketing for your small business.

    15. The power of word-of-mouth marketing for your small business.

Word-of-mouth marketing is possibly one of the oldest forms of marketing for business owners.  ‘Back in the day’ when the only way people could communicate was face-to-face, word-of-mouth was how you got the word out about your products or services and how they can help.  But just because it doesn't have the bells and whistles of newer technology and things like social media, don't let that fool you into thinking it's no longer relevant.  Word-of-mouth referrals pack a serious punch and can turn a cold lead into a hot lead for your business, in an instant - which is hard to do using other marketing channels, including socials.

You can leverage the know, like and trust factor that your clients already have with their peers when you double down on your word-of-mouth marketing strategy.  Tune into this episode for some inspo about how you can spread the word about your own business and embrace the power that word-of-mouth marketing has for small biz!

    This episode covers:

Why word-of-mouth is such a fabulous lead generation tool.
How to start with word-of-mouth marketing.
Ideas for building word of mouth referrals for your business.

    ... and more!

    14. How I easily repurpose my content for maximum impact (busy mum friendly process)

    14. How I easily repurpose my content for maximum impact (busy mum friendly process)

If you're looking to save time (and the chief complaint I hear from mums in business is that they don't have enough time) in your small business marketing, then content repurposing is a great way to do it.

By taking a bigger, hero piece of content and using it in multiple new ways, you can quickly create content, consistently.  By being a little strategic in planning your content from the beginning means each piece that is repurposed contributes positively to your overall strategy, boosting your reach!

In this podcast I'm sharing with you the exact strategy I use for repurposing my content - from start to finish, so strap yourselves in, it's a goodie!

    This episode covers:

Why repurposing your content will make more impact than posting to socials on the fly.
My step-by-step process for repurposing my podcasts.
Tips for creating content that not only provides value to your audience but also gets you seen on Google.
How to create engaging social media posts without spending hours writing captions.

    ... and more!

    13. Tips for juggling motherhood, business and FIFO life.

    13. Tips for juggling motherhood, business and FIFO life.

Today's episode is a deep dive into all things fly-in-fly-out (FIFO) life and the juggle of motherhood and business when your partner works away.

Something I hear a lot as a FIFO mum is 'I don't know how you do it' or 'I couldn't do that'.  I wanted to share how I 'do it' in the hopes that you may realise there's nothing special about me - if I can do this, you could too.  And perhaps you'll find some ideas or inspiration to help you in running a business alongside mum-life, even if you're not a FIFO mum but especially if you are.

Some of the things I talk about aren't what you may expect!

    In this episode I cover:

Why we choose to be a FIFO family - do we actually enjoy this lifestyle?
    FIFO pre-kids VS after kids.
How I juggle business tasks alongside motherhood + FIFO.
My top tips for not just surviving but thriving when you are in the thick of ALL THE THINGS that mum life brings.

    .... and more!

    In this episode you’ll learn:

    Yara’s own experience of matrescence.
How we can best prepare to become a Mother.
The ways trauma shapes our parenting journey.
The mental load of motherhood and business and how to achieve the balance we crave.
Navigating relationships in parenthood when you feel like you’re on different pages.

    … and more!

Why am I so angry? Yara is running an anger workshop for mums in April - secure your spot.
