On April 28, 1996, a man named Martin Bryant fatally shot 35 people at the Port Arthur historical site in Tasmania. For siblings Lorraine and Mick Davies, who had grown up next-door to Bryant, the massacre was not entirely surprising. In this episode, they recount the tragedy's long build-up.

As part of our partnership with Paramount+ for the release of A Gentleman In Moscow, we're unpacking the art of time travel. The show's production designer, Víctor Molero, describes how he couldn't find a historical hotel to film in, so he built one from the ground up. And the hotel they built was a medley of fact and fiction.

Limit your intro music
I am loving this show - the content, the speakers, the host, the honesty and authenticity. But please reduce the number of times you play your intro music - it’s really annoying! Once or twice is more than enough. And please turn down the volume of your music - it’s too loud in comparison to the rest of your podcast. Apart from that - love it.
Condescending host
The subjects are always interesting but the host needs some work. It’s almost like he is trying too hard to put on a fake interviewers voice. It comes across as condescending and disingenuous. The questioning of the Martin Bryant neighbours showed the host’s immaturity. Weird one liner responses that really dumbed down the whole interview. The brother and sister were great and so eloquent
Hit and miss
Particularly the episode about Martin Bryant and his neighbours. Whole episode was the host and guests banging on about how weird and creepy Martin Bryant was when he was a young child/ teenager. Sounds like they were reliving the good old days of bullying and ostracising him well before there was any indication he would go on to commit his horrific crimes. The host could have come from it at a better angle, ie how we should show those with differences in society a little more compassion, understanding and inclusion in the community.
