I’m bringing you real, unscripted stories of women who have gone through matrescence, the physical, emotional, hormonal, social and spiritual transition to becoming a mother, what it meant for them, their learnings, the fun, the whole lot.

“It’s peachy,” they say. And when it’s not, we automatically feel broken.” So let’s bite that peach.

This brokenness, this shock, is both a rite of passage and a sign of a severely let down number of parents who enter this arena with no encouragement to trust their instincts, to trust the process, to surrender.

Episode 8: How to build your village with Lana and Kirsty

Episode 8: How to build your village with Lana and Kirsty

Lana Sussman and Kirsty Levin co-founded The Parents Village in 2016, after they experienced a gap in perinatal support services when they had their own children. Lana and Kirsty are passionate about mental health and wellbeing and set up their private practice to support expectant and new parents through their pregnancy, birth, parenthood, relationships, and career journeys.

With Lana’s training in social work and arts psychotherapy, she works with clients to help them process birth trauma, as well as offering individual and couples counselling.

In parallel, Kirsty guides her clients through professional changes and challenges in her career counselling practice, and also delivers mental health and relationship focused prenatal education.

Together they are on a mission to make sure that all parents feel connected, understood and nurtured… because it takes a village to raise a parent.

Episode 5: Jess Munks - Integrating Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) for the whole family

EFT - emotional freedom technique - also known as tapping or psychological acupressure. is an alternative therapy for anxiety, stress, weight loss, additions, behavioural patterns or anything you would like to change in your life.

It involves tapping specific points on the body, primarily on the head and the face, in a particular sequence. While doing this, the person focuses on the issue that they wish to treat.

As with acupuncture and acupressure, tapping involves the body’s energy meridian points, which are a concept in Chinese medicine. These pathways help balance energy flow to maintain your health. Any imbalance can influence disease or sickness.
