Today we are interviewing Joshua, a UCSD student who shares with us his story about defining, loving and embracing his intersectional identity as a trans person of mixed race. Joshua recounts his experiences growing up in a conservative neighborhood in Arizona, exploring his identity at UCSD, and using media to give a positive stage to minority groups. 

Today we are interviewing Olivia and Morgan, two UCSD students who started the UCSD Sunshine for Seniors project last year to combat loneliness and bridge the gap between students and seniors through card-making and virtual discussion groups. Since this podcast interview, their card count has jumped to 920!

Olivia and Morgan wanted to share a message with you: 

"May is Older Americans Month! The theme this year is Communities of Strength – a fitting tribute after the shared hardship of the pandemic. We just wanted to share this as we think it is an important part of the message...We are so proud of the UC San Diego community and the strength we have seen as we have come together in the past year to support older Americans in San Diego! We are so lucky to be a part of such an amazing community and proud of all that we have accomplished in the past year."

Todd, one of the TEDxUCSD co-directors, and Hannah from the TEDxUCSD Speakers Relations Subteam talk to us about the process of putting together our TEDx main conference this May. 

Today we are interviewing Sara, a UCSD freshman who shares her story of growing up in a strict household and starting to find herself in college. Sara's parents have a background in medicine and want her to pursue the same profession. Sara talks about the difference between living at home and college, and how her brother and piano help her cope with the tensions she sometimes encounters with her parents. 

Today we are interviewing Chloe, a UCSD student who tells us about her diagnosis and daily life with Type I diabetes. 

Today we are interviewing Emily, a UCSD alumna who graduated last year and recently published her song “City of Angels” on Spotify, which went viral and received more than 2 million streams.
