24. Yr Amgueddfa, Post-Horror, and Easy Meat Wales Arts Review Audio

    • Artes

This week we talk to Gareth Smith about his reviews of two crime thrillers - S4C’s Yr Amgueddfa, and BBC One’s Welsh-made series The Pact – thinking about the efficacy of formulas and codes, as well as the relationship between genre and place.
In our second segment we discuss Nia Edwards-Behi's exploration of the term ‘post-horror’, questioning the existence of the concept of post-horror in and of itself, and thinking about the potentialities of horror beyond critical snobbery.
We also look at Martha O’Brien’s review of Rachel Trezise’s Easy Meat—a return to the 2016 referendum through the eyes of Caleb Jenkins, exploring Wales’ relationship to the EU, examining class concerns and the desire for control, and if we can definitively say why Wales voted Leave.
Finally, we’ll be letting you know what projects and events you should be looking out for in our ‘What’s on, Wales’ segment.
