Episode #175 - Megan Houdeshel & Kayla Race (Climate Disclosure Laws and Regulations)
Megan Houdeshel and Kayla Race from Dorsey and Whitney LLP join us this week to discuss recent climiate disclosure laws and regulations. We walk through new disclosure laws passed by California and the new disclosure rule issued by the SEC, and focus on how these laws may impact agriculture and agribusinsses.
Shortly after we recordeded this episode, the SEC announced it will stay the implementation of its climate rule due to pending litigation. The SEC said it will “continue vigorously defending” the rule’s validity in court, but believes that “justice so requires” a stay on the rule due to the ongoing litigation.

As producers and landowners are picking up the pieces after the Panhandle wildfires, there are a number of resources available to help. This episode highlights those resources and provides information about how others who are interested can help in the recovery efforts.
Dr. Bart Fischer from the Ag and Food Policy Center at Texas A&M University walks us through the various USDA programs for which those landowners and producers impacted by fires may qualify.
Dr. Monty Dozier explains the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension efforts on the ground, including the livestock supply points. He also highlights ongoing needs for those who may wish to donate.
