REPLAY: Tipping with Tipped Finance's Barbara Sloan

REPLAY: Tipping with Tipped Finance's Barbara Sloan

Original Air Date: Nov 16, 2022

Barbara Sloan, author of "Tipped The life changing guide to financial freedom for waitresses, bartenders, strippers, and all other service industry professionals," joins Gabe to talk about a topic we've wanted to cover for a while: tipping and working for tips. In the US, 3 million people work mainly for tips and yet financial advice never takes them into account or gives them practical steps to financial stability. We talk about the minimum and subminimum wage, what patrons can do to be better customers to tipped workers, and how people who work for tips can better save, budget, and control their money.

    Conservatorships with Benazeer "Benny" Roshan

    Conservatorships with Benazeer "Benny" Roshan

In the wake of Amanda Bynes and Wendy Williams, Benazeer "Benny" Roshan joins the show to talk about conservatorships and guardianships. Who can petition the court to put someone into one? (I was shocked.) The funny thing about writing your will, who decides your fate under a conservatorship (a jury??), and the fear of women and women of color have around the court system getting involved in their mental breakdowns.

Belanick ,

True public service

I'm actually from Brazil, which means some significant percentage of Gaby's podcast is theoretically useless for me (politics, how taxes work, etc), and still this is the very first podcast that got me hooked. I am not the most ignorant of my friends concerning finances, and still her humble, simple, and most importantly, HUMAN approach on the subject is very powerful to make this talk relatable to most people. I just wish I could recommend this to ALL of my friends (but unfortunately not all of them have enough English comprehension skills for that). To the whole rest, I've been a pain insisting for them to listen to it (and all the ones who have loved it too).
