Enneagram Conversations w/ Esther & Turiya (Part Two)

Enneagram Conversations w/ Esther & Turiya (Part Two)

Everyone has heard of the Myers Briggs personality type indicator and I'm sure most of you have heard of Jungian psychology. (+Jungian typology) But what about The Enneagram? It is another system of personality typing that helps understand how people interpret the world and their emotions. It describes nine personality types based on their core beliefs, desires and fears. What's different about the Enneagram is that you and only you can figure out what type you are. Because the Enneagram is based on motivations and not behaviors, it allows you to discover parts of yourself that you may not have known (or wanted to admit) existed. On Blooming Beyond Borders, the focus is on personal growth, so I'm always looking for interesting topics that challenge us and help us grow; the Enneagram is by far one of the most useful tools for doing just that.

Join me and my dear friends Esther Duncan and Turiya Warman in discussing all of the Enneagram basics you'll need to understand in order to start your self discovery journey.

In this episode, we go through some general questions people may have about this personality typing system. How does it work? How do we become our personality types, and can they change over time? Turiya and Esther also go into each personality type (6-9 on this part TWO) so that you have a better understanding of all 9 types' core fears, desires, traits, and more. Let's get blooming with the Enneagram!

Braley on Internalized Capitalism: Relating Self-Worth to Productivity

Braley on Internalized Capitalism: Relating Self-Worth to Productivity

Do you ever feel guilty for resting? Do you tend to put your chores, work or general need for productivity before your own self care? Then let's talk about Internalized Capitalism. What is it, anyway? And how does it happen? In this episode on Blooming Beyond Borders, I go way deep into the depths of this sneaky, subconscious epidemic (dramatic but totally accurate) and try to find ways in which we can become aware and hopefully begin to reverse the effects of IC. Although this one's a "heady" one, you don't want to miss it. This is a topic that is so incredibly important for us all to educate ourselves on and continue asking questions and having conversations about. Let's get blooming!

*I will soon be writing a post on my blog to support this episode as well, so stay tuned for that!

    The Intimacy Episode

    The Intimacy Episode

After a few months of a break, I'm back with an exciting new episode on INTIMACY. What is it, really? And why does it seem so hard to develop and maintain? I started to really wonder if this word means what we think it means, and after reaching out to some listeners, friends, and family members, along with some books and the internet, I began to collect some experiences and beliefs surrounding intimacy. I asked 6 questions to try and uncover the myths, expectations, and importances of this word, and I hope you enjoy listening to what I've found.

Conversations w/ Lisa Tyler Ariola on Music & Body Image

Conversations w/ Lisa Tyler Ariola on Music & Body Image

Lisa is a singer/songwriter, a lover of nature and a fierce warrior for women. (Among many MANY other things.) In this episode on Blooming Beyond Borders, I ask Lisa about her journey with music that eventually led her to start duo Wintervals with her partner Trevor Walker. After touring the East Coast and later deciding to end the Wintervals chapter, Lisa tells us about their choice to evolve into a new sound and energy that is now called Phibian. (I will link their bands down below!) She doesn't just use her voice to sing, though-she is a vocal protector and advocate for justice, especially for justice of women. As her friend, it has been refreshing and empowering to experience her stand up for what is right time and time again. We also talk about struggling with being called "husky" throughout our childhoods, why we should start taking "the sexy" out of everything, and what kinds of positive things we can do to promote self love and acceptance. Please enjoy this impactful conversation with Lisa and let's get blooming! 'Till next time. Xx

Braley Asks: Is Everyone an Artist? -Discovering & Uncovering our Creativity-

Braley Asks: Is Everyone an Artist? -Discovering & Uncovering our Creativity-

In this week's episode, I'm on my own thinking about what it means to be creative, and if we all, in fact, have that living breathing creativity inside of us that is waiting to be uncovered. As I am currently asking myself these questions about my own personal relationship with creativity, I thought it would be valuable to share. I use two books to help us get to the bottom of what it means to be an artist. (Though of course there are plenty of good ones out there.) Big Magic, by Elizabeth Gilbert, is a wonderful read that explores the limits that we and society create that inhibit ourselves from making our art, how to give ourselves permission to create, and the notion that fear and excitement must coexist when it comes to taking risks for our creative selves. The second book is more of a course, called The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron. This is a book that is often said to be a tool for creative self recovery, and it adds a more spiritual mindset as well. There is a regular book version and a workbook that goes along. I have the workbook. It is a 12 week course that includes reading material, quotes, tasks, check-ins, in addition to the daily morning pages (stream of consciousness writing) and the weekly artist's date. Join me in questioning these ideas, whether you believe yourself to be a creative person or not. (But I stand with these two authors and will state that you ARE.) I will link these two books down below and hope you feel like creating something after listening to this episode! Let's get blooming. 3
