Helping those in need, a human thing to do, is the heart of humanity.

Helping those in need, a human thing to do, is the heart of humanity.

Like the cycle of life, people need other people to flourish. No person ever made it on their own, it takes a community to turn one individual into the best version of themselves. Let’s keep that in mind and be the best person anyone can come across especially people in need and you do not have to expect anything in return. After all it is the human thing to do, this is what humanity is all about. Be a person who cares enough to lend a helping hand, if we can not do that, we can not expect to tackle issues like climate change, if we continue to fail the human society.

Episode 2 - What happens when parents invest in their childrens lives....

Episode 2 - What happens when parents invest in their childrens lives....

    By Iinge Lapp

Social work is something I have always had a passion for. Growing up watching CNN news, BBC world news or France24 news has shaped my life and I saw all the injustices around the world. I realised I wanted to be the one to do something about it. I remember spending so much time trying to think of ways of how I can help change people’s lives for a better standard of living. As I got older, I still had a passion for working with people, each time I was drawn to encouraging, motivating and uplifting people both young and old.

I saw how much my mother wanted me to become the best version of myself, she supported me a 100% in everything I wanted to do. The number one goal for my mother was her dedication and commitment to my success as her daughter. She wanted to see me archive everything that she was not able too. Her momentum pushed me and allowed me to dream bigger.

Therefore, my biggest inspiration to become a social worker is my mother. When I had second thoughts about going to culinary school or doing a social work degree, she held me and said to me, you have always said you wanted to work with people, you wanted to become a social worker and that’s what you should go for. I was lucky enough to have her support and all the investment she put in to see me succeed and I will always appreciate my mother, Maria Ndjembela’ because of her, I am who I am. I hope to continue PAYING IT FORWARD this rare love, support and dedication to see others become the best version of themselves. I am your daily Social Worker.
