Inspired by the stylish dinner party and life of socialite Kitty Packard depicted in the 1930s film Dinner at Eight, Richard Mishaan designed a townhouse for Town&Country that gives Art Deco a modern twist. His imaginary client is a couple in their 50s who, like Kitty, are committed to their own perceptions of glamour and chic, and not afraid to push the envelope. Renowned architect and interior designer John Saladino took inspiration from the 2003 film Girl With a Pearl Earring for the Veranda townhouse. Based on the story behind Dutch master Johannes Vermeer's 17th century portrait of a servant girl named Griet, the film incorporated Vermeer's iconic themes of light and geometry, which Saladino echoed in the townhouse.
