The final episode of our debut radio play sees Charles Dickens discover and rescue a beaten Sophia, Aunt Mary makes the journey of her life, and Douglas's eyes are opened to the beauty of Angelica.

Where Douglas and Sophia both tell their sad stories - but not to each other, and Angelica unwittingly starts off an iconic journey . . .

The search is on for the elusive Sophia Del Ray, who has fallen victim to a disreputable shady character. Captain Stannard has caught the eye of the Duke of Wellington, much to his dismay. Angelica reveals her feelings to a sympathetic Charlotte.

Douglas Parminter bemoans the loss of the lovely Sophia Del Ray, who has an untimely eviction by Captain Stannard and ends up in dire straits. Charles Dickens meets the woman himself and becomes infatuated. Angelica tries to lift Douglas’s spirits and unwittingly ends up giving a clue as to where Sophia may be found…
 

This is a radio play, put together virtually, by Harling Theatre Company, during lockdown. (Please note there are themes and language of an adult nature.) Full cast list and credits will be found on East Harling Theatre Company Facebook page. It is set in 1851, at The Great Exhibition, narrated by Charles Dickens and Charlotte Bronte. It focuses on the new relationship between artist Douglas Parminter and a cockney flower seller, Angelica, and his obsession with a beautiful woman, Sophia Del Ray.
