If you don't know about Braille on Demand, you should. Braille on Demand is a program through the Iowa Prison Industries (IPI). IPI is the job training program within the Iowa Department of Corrections, providing offenders with the opportunity for Building Brighter Futures. IPI’s work training programs are one of the most successful programs in reducing recidivism – the likelihood that a released offender will return to prison. Since more than 90% of Iowa’s offenders will eventually be released, the training programs of IPI are vital to the safety and security of Iowa. IPI Braille on Demand is a resource for Iowa educators working with sight-impaired school children to have documents quickly transcribed into Braille. IPI is the work arm of the Iowa Department of Corrections, teaching offenders in our work programs skills needed to be successful citizens upon release. We hope you enjoy learning about this innovative, community-driven program! Visit www.iaprisonind.com for more information.
