Chris Wouters invited Géraldine Nolens to our studio. She pursues and implements a sustainable business approach. On top of that, she advocates open discussions and balanced considerations in the Board of Directors, always in line with long-term strategy and integrated into the business plan

Danny Vandevyver, himself a GUBERNA Certified Director, invited Karen Dumery for an experience interview around ‘Sustainable Value Creation’ at the GUBERNA Home of Governance. They exchanged views on board mandates, the importance of sustainability on the board agenda, the usefulness of director training programmes and a call to action.

In onze  reeks “Directors Sparkle interviews” gaan Jo Hendrikx, Danny Vandevyver en Chris Wouters in dialoog met GUBERNA-bestuurders. Elk interview sluit inhoudelijk aan op een of meer onderzoeksthema’s waarrond de ‘Centres of Expertise’ van GUBERNA werken: ‘Resilience’ , ‘Board Dynamics’, ’Innovation’, ‘Sustainable Value creation’ en “Diversity & Inclusion.
Jo Hendrikx nodigde Mark Adriaenssens uit. Mark is een pionier als het gaat over duurzaamheid en getuigt graag over drie verschillende, onderling geconnecteerde  initiatieven waar hij actief bij betrokken is: Out of Use, Watt4Ever en vzw Circular.  Brussels Hij is er telkens voorzitter van de raad van bestuur. Zowel Mark als zijn zoon Yannick zijn lid van Guberna en volgen momenteel de opleidingen.

Chris Wouters nodigde Katrin Geyskens uit voor een interview in onze studio. Ze praatten onder andere over hoe een bestuurder deskundig kan navigeren in innovatie, risico’s en verantwoordelijkheden met AI-applicaties. Deze applicaties kennen momenteel een boost in diverse ondernemingen en organisaties. 
Katrin Geyskens is als Managing Partner van Capricorn Partners elke dag met passie bezig als investeerder en bestuurder bij diverse innovatieve jonge ‘venture-backed’ ondernemingen en fondsen actief in de digitale- en gezondheidssector (Icometrix, NGDATA, Minze Health, EclecticIQ, Capricorn Digital Growth Fund …). De typische bedrijven waar ze actief is, zijn diegene die data omzetten in ‘actionable insights’ die waarde hebben voor het bedrijf, de gebruiker, de patiënt en/of de bestuurder. Katrin is meer dan 20 jaar actief in deze onafhankelijke alternatieve investeringsmanager die momenteel ca. 600 miljoen € onder management heeft in de Digitale-, Gezondheids- en ‘Cleantech’ sector.  
Katrin deelde inzichten vanuit haar expertise in in de praktijk over de impact van artificiële intelligentie en hoe daarmee om te gaan in de bestuurskamers van profit- en non-profit ondernemingen.

As a scientist, having studied biology, zoology, and ecology Natacha Lippens worked as a marine biologist in pollution prevention and response. In that capacity she supported the clean-up of      marine pollution incidents around the world, from Argentina to South Korea. She advised on clean-up matters as well as on how to minimise economic and environmental damages.
After obtaining her MBA at INSEAD and Tsinghua (she is half Chinese through her mother) she gradually entered the world of business. She now sits on a variety of boards ranging from food production (Finasucre, Iscal), real-estate development (Compagnie Het Zoute), bioplastic production (Futerro) and talent management (Spencer Stuart). She combines this with various roles in impact investing funds (Confluence, Estari and Telos).
After having completed the GUBERNA Certificate Director Effectiveness and the GUBERNA Certificate Board Effectiveness, both in 2019, she recently obtained the Certificate of Sustainable Directorship (Vlerick, Chapter Zero Brussels and GUBERNA).
She currently lives in Brussels after having spent 22 years abroad. She is particularly known as the new chairperson of the climate governance organisation Chapter Zero Brussels. This non-profit association works both for the health of the planet and the long-term sustainability of the companies by educating and engaging board members on the topic of climate change.

Jo Hendrikx mocht de spits afbijten en nodigde Sam Strijckmans uit in onze studio. Sam is executive Vice-President bij de Japanse multinational Nitto Denko Corporation en voorzitter en CEO van Nitto EMEA NV. Dit is het in Leuven gevestigd regionaal hoofdkantoor voor Europa, het Midden-Oosten en Afrika.
Sam ging met Jo in dialoog over ESG en duurzame waardecreatie. Hij legt uit hoe de EU Green Deal voor het Nitto-bestuur een ware hefboom geweest is voor een versnelling van de duurzaamheidstransformatie. Maar ook met Jo’s gezonde nieuwsgierigheid rond strategie, overnames, good governance en bestuursmandaten in een Japanse multinational wist hij raad…
Jo Hendrikx onthoudt vooral hoe je door je visie, strategie en goed bestuur een grote verandering van binnenuit kunt genereren. Wanneer de bedrijfstop het strategisch verhaal goed aanstuurt en draagt wordt het effect van goede governance tot op de werkvloer voelbaar.
