Copyright provides the owner of original work with the exclusive right to a particular work for a limited duration of time. For a work to be “copyrightable,” it must be original and tangible in the form of sound recording recorded (affixed to) on a CD or a literary work printed (affixed to) on paper. A copyrighted work can be original musical works, literary works, audio-visual works, dramatic and graphic art.
A copyrighted musical work can have multiple facets with multiple rights associated with the different aspects of musical creation. For a music creator to get fair pay for his/her music and get his/her rights protected he/she needs to know the copyright well.
