Stan Culture Is Getting Crazier (feat. Eric Alper, Nate Silva) | MRP #056

In this episode, I'm feeling sick so I want to punish myself by talking about why I might have to enter witness protection if I'm not careful. Stan Culture is becoming dangerously insane, and I fear it won't just be Swifties coming for my head. I sit down with Eric Alper to find out more. Also, Nate Silva joins us. Previously of The Slyde, and now going solo with his new album "The Chase" due out May 3rd. Plus the last week of April had some more releases and these ones are surprising.

We're Back At It Again! (feat. Rehn Stillnight of Nocturna) | MRP #055

We kick the show off in the Essentials Dungeon with a request to look at the "swan song" album of Canadian Avant-Garde metal band Unexpect called Fables Of The Sleepless Empire. Then we get into the craziest and weirdest concert stories from you and the metalheads of reddit. And finally we wrap up with a sit down (early in the morning) with singer and co-founder of Nocturna; Rehn Stillnight. We talked about a lot, including that new album "Of Sorcery And Darkness" and how the album's creation differed from their debut.

In this bonus episode of our podcast, Collin and I dive deep into the world of movies for a change, a little excerpt from "B-Side" discussions when recording Episode #053 of the podcast. We talk about them all, including "Oppenheimer" and "Rocketman," sharing personal experiences and reflections of the year's movies, and looking back on some hilariously stupid interactions with "Karens" at the movie theatre.

    I May Have Gone Crazy… | MRP #054

The final episode of the 2023 season delves into essential metal albums, featuring Killswitch Engage's "Alive or Just Breathing" as suggested by a listener. The episode discusses the album's significance in shaping the metalcore genre and its impact on modern metal (potentially going crazy in the process).

The episode continues with an interview segment featuring Steve Crane from the death/doom band Dusk, continuing on from two episodes back, discussing their new album "Dissolve Into Ash."
The show is wrapped up with an interview with Evan and Nick from Bacterial Husk, a death metal quartet, sharing insights into their debut album "Anthropogenic Ruin." And becoming a favourite among the 2023 interviews in 2023.

The podcast concludes announcing a break before the next season, encouraging listeners to stay tuned for updates and subscribe to the Metal Robot Podcast across various platforms.

    2023 Metal Robot Wrapped (w/Thrashers Paradise) | MRP #053

    2023 Metal Robot Wrapped (w/Thrashers Paradise) | MRP #053

In this episode we wrap up the 2023 season with Collin Sterling of Thrashers Paradise to talk about what we’ve been listening to the most this past year.

2023 for many has been a rollercoaster, including for both me and Collin. Though we couldn’t get around to a best of the year list ourselves, that doesn’t mean we’ve been avoiding the black hole of the metal scene. This was the year that saw lots of new and interesting bands popping up, many of which we never heard of until they blew up (*cough* Sleep Token *cough*), and fun projects that got us to question the use of A.I. in the music scene, such as loving the outcome with Boi What’s Plankton metal.

The year has been interesting for sure, but whether for the good or bad it’s a year that gave us at least something to talk about moving forward into 2024 (and hopefully not 2020 part 4).
