    Welcome once again to Newcastle Roots Music Radio-world roots and folk music that you will hear over the next month in NE England. On this month’s show, available via the website and on Hive Radio, there is a distinctly Americana-ey feel. We feature Tyneside’s hot source of Gypsy Swing and more: Rob Heron and the Tea Pad Orchestra. This natty ensemble is about to launch its long awaited second album “Talk About the Weather”. There’s also music from Summertyne Americana Festival, the Durham Brass Festival, the Banner of the North Folk Festival (which takes place at the home of Hive Radio) and much much more! We’ll hear from London Latinos Son Yambu who will kick the festival off! There’s also a Latino mix, music from the Jumpin’Hot Jamboree Festival, loads of folk, country, klezmer, New Orleans jazz, saxy jazz/reggae from Yolanda Brown and the blissful music of Uday Bhawalker!

    Welcome once again to Newcastle Roots Music Radio-world roots and folk music that you will hear over the next month in NE England and some you won’t. On this month’s show, the featured NE artist are the very talented duo Megson. Although they now live in the plains of Cambridgeshire are originally from Teeside. They have a new album out this month “In a Box” and three tracks feature on the show. You are in for a treat, as always they draw heavily on their roots for this gorgeous album. As well as Megson and Teeside,the show gets around the globe a bit with music from India, Mali, Wales, Brittany, the U.S.A.,Brazil, Scotland, Ireland, and the Isle of Man. We hear about music from this month’s Hexham Gathering and another festival curated by the phenomenon that is folk trio Lau at Sage Gateshead. You will also hear music from Canada, Poland, Colombia, Afrobeat via London, numerous Celtic tracks and an exciting composition performed by guitar virtuoso Simon Thacker’s Camerata Ritmata! Gateshead is not left out with music from Shipcote and Friends, get to hear the new single from Glastonbury award winners in 2013, Bridie and the Arbour and a good bluegrass breakdown courtesy of North East bluegrass combo The Kentucky Cowtippers.
