For this episode, powerful women share their experiences and thoughts. History, backgrounds, experiences, dreams, determinations, are just some of the things that let us understand the importance and the power of the role of women in folkloric manifestations and,  in general, music. These group of women are a few of an immense amount of inspiring and encouraging artists that work hard and with a shinning spirit to advance towards a more egalitarian world. On this episode we are traveling from the North of Brazil all the way down to El Río de La Plata where we meet with the Candombe. On this trip we get closer to cultural manifestations that show more evidently their relation with the Afro musics.

With the help from Maria Figueredo's book "Poesía y Música Popular: Su Convergencia en el Siglo XX (Poetry and Popular Music: Their convergence in the XX Century)," we start to explore the tight link between music and poetry and the importance of this relationship in the Popular Music from Latin America.

On this episode we travel back to the North region of Argentina and go further north to Bolivia and Peru.

Irene López, the author of the book "Discursos Identitarios en el Folklore de Salta," will be sharing herself some ideas on one of the subjects that has been at the center of ours discussions. The relation between Identities, Popular Songs and Folklore.

We will also listen to talk about a genre that generally is not included as part of the Folklore, La Cumbia. There are many genres in this rich region of the Americas that are not consider as part of the folkloric music and, I personally, start putting under a more thorough scrutiny "what does Folklore mean?"

In this occasion we dive into other regions from Argentina. The Pampa Region and the Litoral Region. Both located to the center of Argentina.

By the experiences and the knowledge from the great artists that join us on this episode we will discover the differences between this regions and the one that we have been discussing on the previous episodes.

The big One concept that this episodes talks about is "Racial Imagination." With the support from Julio Mendívil's book (Against the Music) we will identify this concept with what happened to the African cultures that are closely related with how the folkloric music in South America is described many times. These are reductions of the great and rich complexities from the popular or folk musics.
