What "Ni de Aqui Ni de Alla" Feels Like and What We can Do About It

What "Ni de Aqui Ni de Alla" Feels Like and What We can Do About It

    Belonging uncertainty sounds like:
I don't know if this is my place, my thing, my peeps, or my favorite, my "vibe." It's what we tell ourselves when we feel uncertain about our belonging. It's always a good idea to notice when you are in the middle of expereincing belonging uncertainty because #SelfAwareness.
It's a great reminder that we always have a choice to deliberatelty not add ourselves into situations where we feel like we don't belong to preserve and protect our nervous systems, or to conciously add ourselves with the desire to take up all the space. The important thing to remember is we have the choice.
Now hears the rub. It's called limininty and it feels like a belonging vacuum devoid of connection, love and humantity. This is quite literally "the space between"
It is what "Ni de aqui ni de alla" feels like. It stinks.
This episode is about understanding spaces of liminity, making sure you know that that crappy feeling you are so familiar with is acknowledged here and now and offers a way through.

    How to Handle "Belonging Uncertainty"

"Belonging Uncertainty is the state of mind in which one suffers from doubts about whether one is fully accepted in a particular environment or ever could be. We can experience it in the workplace, at school, at a snooty restaurant, or even in a brief social encounter." - Greg Walton and Jeff Cohen

How a Conflict with My Husband Turned Into a Lesson In Belonging

How a Conflict with My Husband Turned Into a Lesson In Belonging

Have you ever wondered why you seem to understand exactly how some people literally think while at the same time you feel the way others think is just foreign to you?

Much of the conflict we see today can be understood in the context of ideological dominance or the passed-down and deeply engrained belief systems in which we see the world. That's a mouthful!

Instead of reading about it here, take a listen to this episode and see if you can relate more with Denise or with her hubby the #gringocowboy - by the end you'll know on what side of this ideological conversation you fall and at the very least, you'll understand why you don't see eye-to-eye with some people and why you feel so seen and understood by others.

Our hope is that by understading the way we see the world, we can be intentional about supporting all people to feel like they belong.
