Scott Edwards: EVP, Head of Creative Advertising at Fox Entertainment

Scott Edwards is the EVP of Fox Creative Advertising where he oversees the “formula-free process” of creating the campaigns from first-look trailers, launch promos, current-show episodics, key art one sheets or billboards, custom social content, and anything else on the horizon to help ignite hits such as 9-1-1 LONESTAR, ACCUSED, BOB’S BURGERS, THE CLEANING LADY, CRIME SCENE KITCHEN, FAMILY GUY, KRAPOPOLIS, LEGO MASTERS, THE GREAT NORTH, THE SIMPSONS, THE MASKED SINGER, SPECIAL FORCES, and an array of Gordon Ramsay shows. And prior to Scott’s incredible run at Fox, let’s just say he probably owes you fifteen bucks for, as he would confess, “convincing you to see a movie that didn’t really deliver. It happens. That’s the gig.”

Team Aspect: Games with Ryan Vickers, Ashley Vong and David Wilson

Team Aspect: Games with Ryan Vickers, Ashley Vong and David Wilson

We've got the team that brought you the CALL OF DUTY, ASSASSINS CREED and BATMAN ARKHAM TRILOGY campaigns and so much more! That's David Wilson, Executive Producer / Co-Head of Immersive Media at Aspect (Los Angeles); Ryan Vickers, Co-Head of Games at Aspect; and Ashley Vong, Games Producer at Aspect and Women in Games Ambassador.

It's been so cool to track with folks like Ryan Vickers and David Wilson from when they were working their way up at that legendary, groundbreaking team at Ant Farm, and then as they took the leap to launch the games division at Aspect LA. Ashley Vong made her way on the theatrical side initially at Big Pic and then over at Aspect, and really hit her stride with David and Ryan (aka "my people") doing all that great work in games.

This is an in-depth conversation on each of their stories, all they've overcome, what they love working on, their perspective on the work and the industry as a whole.

Peter Stark and Brian Lauzon of AV Print

Peter Stark and Brian Lauzon of AV Print

We were joined on this episode by Peter Stark, the Head of Print at AV Squad, and Brian Lauzon, the Creative Director there at AV Print.

Peter shares about how one goes from serving in the Peace Corps to running print at one of the most successful shops in the business. Brian gives us a glimpse at how a guy could get from Buttzville, NJ (jk, he's actually from Long Valley, NJ - Buttzville was just a place he visited for the hot dogs) to working on some of the most kick-ass posters we've enjoyed over the last 20 years.

We also talked about plenty of their work. There was a pretty scary SAW poster, CRASH posters they each worked on, a really rad PATRIOTS DAY poster, a motion and emotion-filled TAR piece and so much more. I mean, check out their site. There's HOUSE OF THE DRAGON, CIVIL WAR, THE HOLDOVERS... Anyway, check it out. So much great work!

Netflix x Otis: Helping to Break Through Barriers

We brought in three industry heavyweights Kenny Gravillis, Dawn Baillie, and Noël Claro to discuss a collaboration between Netflix and Otis College of Art and Design. ACCESS was launched to help historically underrepresented students unlock their "peak potential and shape the future of entertainment marketing." We also explore Noël, Kenny and Dawn's respective careers and views on the industry, underlining the value of education and practical experience. We also candidly address some of the challenges many have faced, how we've muddled our way through and how folks can come together to overcome obstacles. And of course we geek out on influential posters and campaigns, highlighting the ones for 'Barry', the 1979 'Alien' movie, and 'All About Eve' from 1950. Ultimately, Dawn, Kenny and Noël provide advice to aspiring marketers, focusing on the importance of meaningful relationships, persistent research, and inspiration.
