The Disponett Experience, Episode #9—JB - Josh Bowen: Personal Trainer, Life Coach, and Buff Gandhi
“Self-awareness is the greatest superpower one has.” This week David is hanging out with JB:
fitness coach and life coach. Perhaps this is why he picked up the nickname “Buff Gandhi.” JB
believes that the source of many problems is from childhood trauma: each person creates a
narrative based upon experiences, and if one lacks self-respect at certain times in development,
this trauma will carry over into adulthood. This is not our fault, but it is our responsibility. The
good news is it can be overcome through self-trust, self-engagement, and listening to intuition.
By engaging one’s own emotional intelligence, a person can understand their behaviors through
recognizing the causes from their own self-created narrative.
David and JB also discuss a variety of topics from steroids to conspiracy theories. JB talks about
his struggles with body dysmorphia. They touch on honesty, depression, politics, stress, and
saunas. JB’s bottom line is that you don’t have problems; you just have circumstances.
A good trainer is someone who can relate to anyone. Whether you need a fitness coach or a life
coach, JB is listening.

The Disponett Experience, Episode #7—Dr. Nick Trubee 2: Improving Health and Positivity is a Matter of Mind Over Matter
In this episode David talks to Dr. Nick Trubee. Trubee is a fitness coach with a PhD in Exercise
Physiology. They discuss the importance of sleep, nutrition, and maintaining an active lifestyle,
both physically and mentally. When it comes to health, it takes more than a sack-full of apples to
keep this doctor away.
Dr. Trubee’s philosophy is that exercise should not only be challenging but also fun. He uses
what he calls block programming in workouts: using variation to increase motivation and
performance. He explains the role the nervous system plays in exercise. He also talks about his
studies into cardiovascular health and arterial fitness in firefighters. David and Nick also touch
on creatine and how it not only improves physical health but also cognitive health as well.
Need positivity? The doctor is in!

The Disponett Experience Episode #6- Sky Shelton-From Country Music Writer to Supplement Shop Owner
Ashwagandha Forever! In this episode, David talks to Sky Shelton, former musician and owner
of the Lexington Nutrishop. They discuss nutritional supplements and how to use them to be a
healthier, happier person.
Does melatonin make you sleepy? Should you take testosterone? What is L-carnitine anyway?
While Sky owns a nutrition store, health education is his real passion, and he accomplishes this
through the science of supplements. When you walk into his shop, chances are he’s going to ask
you, “Why are you taking that?” Frequently, customers have been misinformed or don’t know.
He wants to change that.
And remember, kids: Mountain Dew is not a supplement.

The Disponett Experience Episode #5 - Collins Youngblood - Getting Sober & Giving Back Through Food
“Faith, family, friends, wisdom, knowledge, and community.” This is the motto of Collins
Youngblood, owner of LeanFeast Lexington, a restaurant that offers fresh, healthy meals at a fair
price in a relaxed atmosphere where everyone can be themself. Because for Collins, it’s not just
about creating healthy food; it’s about creating healthy people. His mission is to be a light in the
community of Lexington (and to perhaps make Lexington a little lighter in the process).
In this episode, David interviews former bodybuilder Youngblood. They discuss the challenges
and advantages of starting a business, taking risks, and the importance of family. From
overcoming a troubled childhood, to overcoming alcoholism, Collins is not afraid to talk about
his troubled past. He says he loves sharing his weaknesses, because facing weakness is what
makes you stronger, and he hopes others can learn from his mistakes.
Collins Youngblood worked hard to overcome emotions and fear, and in the process learned that
being a strong, successful man means choosing the hard right over the easy wrong.
Now he is sharing the fruit of his labor…with a side of waffles.
