Finding Balance Is Good for Business

Finding Balance Is Good for Business

When I think of a yoga class, I picture calmness in a room that's perhaps dimly lit with an instructor speaking in a soothing voice to provide peace to participants in attendance. But that's not how every yoga class looks, and tranquility aside, a yoga studio is a business just like any other; it must be profitable. Whether budgets, marketing data and profit seem to fit this Zen picture or not, that's business.
My guest this week Chelsea Manganaro has successfully tapped into the best parts of herself to become a thriving entrepreneur in Northeast PA with two locations of her Nearme yoga studio, a cafe by the same name, a new rooftop venture and an annual Yoga Festival taking place on June 8 and 9 on Montage Mountain in Moosic, PA.
Get tickets to the Yoga Festival here.

As I celebrate three years producing content for this podcast, Uncorked with Funny Wine Girl, my wine glass and heart are full.

With over 100 episodes to listen to, there have been nearly 5,000 total plays over the course of three years. Wow. That's a lot of listens and a lot of people who have been affected by the many fabulous women (primarily) who have been guests on my show.

    H-O-me Sweet O

    H-O-me Sweet O

As we celebrate the three-year anniversary of Uncorked with Funny Wine Girl this month, it seemed only fitting to have my dear friend and first full-length podcast episode guest Oliver as my guest this week.

This week's episode is a colloquial one in which Ollie and I recap the week I spent visiting him and his hubby Jim in North Carolina. We chat about wine, WOE (World Oddities Expo), whacking some clowns and more.

Tune in for some unofficial travel tips for your next visit to the Raleigh Durham area. And take a mini vacation from your everyday stress and laugh with us!

Coach T Macc Advises Us to Take the Shot

Coach T Macc Advises Us to Take the Shot

Many of us Gen X women were not nurtured or strongly encouraged as girls to break through the glass ceiling or demand a seat at the table. Yet many of us are doing just that and want to do as much as we can to make it easier for the young women who follow.

My guest this week is Tara Macciocco, a woman who is poised to instill confidence in young women (and young men) as a college basketball coach and instructor.

Tune in for this conversation on the growing popularity of women's sports, due in large part to Iowa's record-breaking player Caitlin Clark who recently signed with the WBA's Indiana Fever. We talk about what Clark has done for women's sports and how much more progress needs to be made. Coach Macciocco advises women of every age to take their shot...go after what they want, try new things and not be afraid of failing.

    Tracy Is Teaching Little Yogis

    Tracy Is Teaching Little Yogis

The older we get, the more we carry around with us. And many of us (myself included) struggle sometimes to set things down in order to lighten our load and enjoy the moment. But kids are different. They come with little or no baggage.

This week's guest Tracy Bajadek has the honor and opportunity to guide children in yoga through her business Buds in Bloom Kids Yoga. She is accustomed to offering guidance and support to children and their families through her profession as a speech language pathologist so adding this training seemed very natural.

When the pandemic happened in 2020, Tracy says she tapped into something inside that was dormant and decided to turn her attention to becoming a yoga teacher.

If you live in NEPA and would like your children to enjoy the benefits of yoga, Follow Buds in Bloom Kids Yoga on Facebook and Instagram to learn about events happening in NEPA.

Creating Mental Health Awareness & Community Connection

Creating Mental Health Awareness & Community Connection

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) reports that 57.8 million adults live with some form of mental illness. Now add family members and friends to those numbers and basically we are all impacted in one way or another. And...mental health IS part of our overall health so it is something we all need to pay attention to.

My returning guest this week is Nina Judge, founder of the John Malvizzi Foundation who is hosting a Free Mental Wellness Fair on May 4th in NEPA to provide the community an opportunity to connect, learn about available resources, raise awareness around mental health and practice some self-care with laughter yoga and a comedy show that is all FREE!

Even if you live outside of NEPA, you can benefit from this conversation about mental wellness and the opportunity we all have to do our part. Learn about becoming certified in Mental Health First Aid here.
