This podcast was created to take a look at our society and how we view our environment.
Do we see ourselves as the masters of a living Earth (Gaia) that exists only to serve our needs? Or do we see ourselves as part of a living ecosystem or web of life?
What actions can we take in a time of climate chaos?
Although we are a small island, we emit one of the highest rates of GHG's in Europe - why is this?
What comes next for rural Ireland and farming communities?
These are some of the questions I will try to answer here.
Enjoy!

An Interview with Climate Actions Network (CAN) and Gorilla Highlands Coffee Uganda.

Did you know that coffee is the second most traded commodity in the world?! ☕️

In this episode I caught up with founder of Climate Actions Network (CAN) group Robert Stephenson.

The CAN group has partnered with Gorilla Highlands Coffee group from Uganda in order to empower this community and create positive climate action.

CEO Richard Rugaya, development manager Claudine Kampire and market strategist Fiona Tanner spoke to me about their business and future plans with CAN.

The coffee is sustainably grown, supports the environment of the Highland gorillas and also empowers women in the Kisoro community as 80% of the coffee farmers there are women.

Centres of Excellence are planned to be created by CAN in Ireland, Uganda and South Africa. CAN is cooperating with universities from Ireland and Uganda as well as Teagasc and Bord na Móna to create positive climate strategies.

    We talked:
    -coffee
    -hemp
    -apps that monitor carbon output
    -carbon credits
    -wildlife conservation
    -social impact
-the future of the planet 🌏

I hope you enjoy listening to this podcast as much as I enjoyed making it!

*Big thank you to Robert Stephenson and The Button Factory Dublin for holding a space for this very informative and enjoyable meeting!

An Interview with Saoirse McHugh - Green Party Candidate for Mayo #GE2020

Saoirse McHugh is a young woman from Achill island and the Green Party candidate elect for Mayo in the 2020 General Election.
In this interview Saoirse and I spoke about how she found her way into politics, her experience of Green politics in Ireland and what Ireland needs to do to for it to become a climate leader.
We also discussed societal issues such as how the environmental narrative is portrayed in the media here and how far electoral politics can actually go to make a real change.

    Other topics include:
    What is Greenwashing?
Why don't we have defined ideologies within our politics?
Why does Ireland have such a high green house gas emission rate per capita?
What comes next for Irish farmers?

Feel free to get in touch if there’s something you’d like covered within climate and the environment!
