45. How To Use Storytelling To Build Your Brand With Tracy Hornik + Jessica Wright Into The Wild

    • Entrepreneurship

Hey you wild women!
Today I have a dynamic duo. These women share stories of successful women that inspire them. Their mission: To celebrate and elevate women by telling as many of their stories as possible.
Friends for well over 20 years, these ladies came together in 2018 to create She’s On Top, a company designed to inspire and encourage women to be part of the change that is necessary. They do this through an incredible YouTube channel, a membership site, sponsorships and an ambassador program.
Jessica - has been a passionate storyteller for over 30 years. In her 20's, she was a stand-up comedian. Hired as a writer for a YTV kids comedy show, she went on to accumulate over 18 years of experience in the television industry.
As a former executive producer and Gemini-nominated director, she has created, developed, written and produced award-winning factual entertainment, docu-soap, documentary, comedy, children’s live action and animated programs, as well as shorts and commercials for Canada and the U.S.
Tracy -  started her career as a lawyer and after several years of practicing, moved on to run one of the most successful wholesale gift companies in Canada.
After raising her young family, she started a photography business and from there went on to make documentary films.
In this episode you will learn about:
Get comfortable with being uncomfortable - as an entrepreneur you never settle into a ‘comfortable’ state The importance of finding your niche Learning is a life-long process The importance of female relationships and having a support network The power of storytelling to you and your brand Powerful storytelling evokes emotion, which in turn creates connection Stories are memorable and relatable and so valuable to growing your brand ‘Your mess becomes your message’ - how to leverage your ‘mess’ and turn it into your message Why it’s important to have both a personal brand + a business brand Collaboration over competition - Communities can expand through cooperation Opportunities exist within crisis or times of hardship The importance of being agile in your business in order to pivot when the market demands  You don’t need to know everything right away - you only need to be one chapter ahead than the rest Your awareness affects your perception and doesn’t always reflect reality You will attract your community through your unique value What it means to be a wild woman:
“Being willing to try anything and put yourself out there – see how it goes and believe in the journey. I’m wild because I’m just going to do it.” - Tracy
