827: Raymond Crowe - What a Wonderful Life
From Adelaide, Australia, Raymond Crowe bills himself as the “Unusualist.” An apt title, indeed, as his act is hard to describe and one of a kind. More than a magician and mime, he is a shadow artist as well. His on-stage character can be seen and “felt” by audiences regardless of the size of the theater. He can emote feelings and emotions with a mere gesture, tilt of his head, or movement of his eyes, plus his magic is original and amazing. He has performed around the world including a command performance for the Queen of England! He toured with The Illusionists as they traveled around the world from the Sydney Opera House to Broadway in New York City. He has had appearances on David Letterman’s Late Show, Australia’s Got Talent and even on America’s Got Talent. He has competed at FISM and lectured/performed at MAGIC Live! and Blackpool.
If you are more of a visual person, then you might like watching our interaction via Zoom as we recorded this week’s episode.
This week, Raymond Crowe talks about his beginnings as he learned mime/theater from Madame Zora. He also talks about his humble beginnings as a manipulator and how he learned the art of shadowography.

Customer Reviews
It's like attending magic school without the tuition
I've been listening to Scott Wells' podcast since its inception. I first learned about it from his posts on the Genii forum and it's great that he provides updates whenever they are posted. Having access to the thoughts and experiences of so many magicians has been a blessing, especially those of us with limited incomes who can't afford to purchase a lot of materials. Scott's generosity and willingness to spend his own time to produce the podcast and provide it for free is incredible and greatly appreciated. Always looking forward to new instalments.
The magic word, the last word you need in a magic podcast
Scott Wells has been reporting on magic for a long time. The Magic Word is a great source for magicians to find out whats going on. But it gets better. Scott has taken the time to find some great interviews with people who think about the business of magic. He is well connected and is able to get some fantastic guests to appear on the magic word. Recent interviews like Paul Daniels were hilarious, and the interview with Shawn Farquhar was spellbinding and at times almost unbelievable. Subscribe to this podcast and listen to it. You’ll be glad you did.
