Ep. 1035: Ultra Running With Multiple Sclerosis - Matt Knaggs
Matt considered himself a casual runner, completing one or two half-marathons a year. He was raising a family, advancing his career, and staying healthy. His outlook on life was that it was chugging along, and Matt was content. As far as he was concerned, he “had it all figured out.”
However, as life often does, it threw Matt a tough curveball with what seemed like an unsolvable problem. His balance was off, he was constantly exhausted, and his vision was blurry.
After months of doctor appointments, ER visits, and no answers, Matt was left with a sense of bewilderment about the changes happening to him. After collapsing on a work trip and being rushed to the hospital by his work colleagues, he was finally diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and told he would be wheelchair-bound within five years.
Today, we’ll hear about Matt’s journey since the diagnosis, how he got back into running, and how he set his goals far beyond what he imagined before this life-altering news. This leads us to what’s next. Starting June 15th, Matt is planning to run from Lincoln, Nebraska, to Casey, Iowa, in an effort to raise awareness and funds for MS Run the US. Ep. 1032: From Canoeing in Michigan to Protecting the Amazon Rainforest - Eric Rutter
During his day job Eric writes about Michigan football for Sports Illustrated and works at a Mexican Restaurant. However, during breaks from work, Eric takes solo travel experiences all around the world to some of the most exotic places. Eric’s confidence in travel began a few years ago when he attempted a 120-mile solo canoe trip on the Au Sable River in his hometown of Grayling. The seemingly familiar location and experience made Eric realize home is much more adventurous than we often think.
That accomplishment led Eric to eventually travel to the Amazon Rainforest, where he saw firsthand the destruction of the most biodiverse place on earth and immediately got involved in helping protect it.

Ep. 1031: Riding a Horse Across America - Revisited - Jesse McNeil
Originally aired August 22, 2021
At 37, Jesse McNeil—at times carpenter, commercial fisherman, dabbler in real estate—decided to buy an untrained horse, make himself into a horseman, and ride all the way across the United States, from the Pacific to the Atlantic Ocean.
A fiercely independent traveler, Jesse had navigated previous coast-to-coast trips—solo journeys by moped, bicycle, and small airplane. This time, however, he had a partner: a five-year-old Tennessee Walking Horse named Pepper. An inexperienced horseman with an equally inexperienced mount, Jesse would quickly discover the immense challenges of his new undertaking. Over the course of eight months and fourteen states—beginning in Oregon and ending on a beach in New Hampshire—he would be tested many times over as he learned not only what it took to keep Pepper safe and healthy, but the true value of qualities that he had once easily dismissed: patience and companionship.
The generosity of strangers, from helpful ranchers and storekeepers to suburban families, shaped the pair’s journey east. And while at some points the miles didn’t unfold as Jesse hoped, others yielded unexpected events that changed his perspective—and quite possibly, his future. Written with honesty, grit, and grace, On the Hoof captures an arduous voyage that broke a man down and built him back up, with the help of one special horse.
To find out more about Jesse and his book, On the Hoof, which will be available on Aug 5th, go to onthehoofbook.com.

Love Show/Contest only for US
I love the show and the guests that you interview. I tried to enter your contest butI live in Canada and it looks limited to the US. Feeling left out here. You should mention this in your promo so your international fans are don’t try to enter and end up excluded.
Love it!
Great pod
One of my favourite podcasts atm
With a mix of (well)known and obscure guests, this podcast definitely showcases the imagination and creativity that people have when it comes to outdoor sports & adventure. Really inspiring.
