Wow ! I’m just speechless after binge listening all episodes
I can relate to that feeling of ‘what now’? I binge listened to all the episodes and sat in my car another 15 min after Epilogue just wrapping my brain around all the moving parts. I became increasingly engrossed by this story every episode. I was gripped by the collateral damage to the entire family. The idea that there are 7 children out there and his parents and sister left to deal with the fall out. This guy made a choice (a really bad one) that had so many ripple effects on so many including the reporter and even indirectly the listener.
Gripping story telling. I hope you found peace some where after all this Christof I think you definitely brought the parents a sense of closure too even though it may have cost you a part of your soul.
Just wow !
Where is the rest!???
It says Jan 13 more episodes! A groping human story
Irresponsible journalism
I gave the entire season a listen despite my early reservations about how sympathetic the reporter was to Omar. In the end, the podcast did far too much to glorify a murderer who never saw justice. There is ample evidence that they women who are taken as “wives” do so against their wills and the likelihood that Omar’s children are the product of rape and coercion is completely glossed over.
This journalist made a huge mistake in judgement by placating a terrorist and bending to his wishes instead of sharing this information with special forces who could have prevented further deaths (maybe even Omar’s) had they had the information sooner.
I don’t usually down vote podcasts because I don’t like the subject matter/ content, but given that this is presented as a piece of journalism, I think it deserves a two-star rating.
Also, from a production standpoint, it was confusing when they switched between interviewees without reintroducing who was speaking.
